Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
I live in Florida. I hate snakes, "good" ones and bad. The good ones supposedly eat pesky rodents and chase the bad snakes away - the vipers. These are the deadly ones with a V-shaped head and sometimes a tail that makes noise, but some come with no rattle or hiss. They hide, lying in wait, until they strike. They produce a devil-like forked tongue in warning to beware, but they can never become the good snakes. I think President Trump is trying to cut the heads off snakes - the bad ones.
Upon taking office and while campaigning, he declared he hates war, the young bodies senselessly maimed and destroyed, no matter what side they were on. The destruction of valuable resources like energy, crops, and rich soil, along with a country's most valuable resources, its present and future youth, and the cost to keep a war going, as in the case of Russia and Ukraine. He opens diplomatic channels and tries to bring opposing governments together, and has had some amazing success, ending eight wars. That is unheard of. He hosts these leaders, brings in mediators, and tries everything to resolve conflicts. He patiently waits and listens.
But Evil never morphs into Good. Evil can change its disguise, language or lie quietly below the surface, watching, while it blends in with the scenery, going unnoticed. Sometimes it promises to change into a good snake, to buy time to strengthen its venom. When it reveals itself, there is no question of its intent: to poison and to kill its victim.
President Trump waits, and when all else has failed he goes to the pits and puts out snake bait. As these evil snakes emerge, he cuts off their heads, one by one.
Which snakes, you ask?
Iran: Iran's leadership has suppressed its people for decades, has been a sponsor of terror through proxies that have fueled attacks against Israel and the West, and its leadership smiles into the camera while shaking hands with the leaders of Russia and China. They all use oil to fund their goals. These three massive countries alone suppress freedom, push deadly drugs through various means into the West, and it never gets better. Obama approved a large sum of money in 2016 - 1.7 billion in cash to be exact (cough!), delivered at night through the back of a plane to Iran. He fed the viper, and here we are.
Venezuela: Venezuela was once among the richest countries in Latin America. Enjoying an abundance of oil and good soil, they exported food and thrived until the arrival of communism. "Under Presidents Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro, massive public spending combined with severe corruption and price controls led to extreme hyperinflation and a profound humanitarian crisis." Once again, a viper took hold and destroyed all that was once good and prosperous, but also became a proxy for terror. From AI Overview:
"Multiple sources, including U.S. government reports and expert testimony, indicate the presence of terrorist "safe havens" and rumored training camps in Venezuela, facilitated by the Maduro regime. The government of Venezuela has allegedly permitted groups like the National Liberation Army (ELN), dissidents of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC-D), and Hezbollah to operate within its borders.
President Trump cut off the viper's head.
Russia: The war with Ukraine has cost many young lives in both countries. Russia deals in oil too, and shakes the hands of those who benefit from being its ally, but refuses an off-ramp to peace. Neither does Ukraine. Corruption abounds. From AI Overview:
As of early 2026, the United States has authorized approximately $175 billion to $187 billion in total aid for Ukraine since the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022. This includes military equipment, financial assistance for the Ukrainian government, and humanitarian aid, with the Department of Defense comprising the largest share of funding.
Also, Ukraine's soil was amongst the richest, unique and most fertile in the world - a highly sought-after export.
“What’s special about Ukraine is that it produces more than it needs to meet domestic demand, leaving a surplus of goods that can be sold on the international market,” TRT says. It is no coincidence that in 2019 the country overtook Russia to become the world’s leading exporter of wheat with almost 50 million tons sold in the market. At that time, the country reported a total harvest of 70 million tons.
The secret of fertility is called černozëm, a humus-rich black soil that covers more than 65 percent of the country’s arable land, a new analysis by Turkish public broadcaster TRT notes. This particular soil has attracted the attention of scientists since the 19th century. In a paper published in 1866, Austrian scientist Franz Joseph Ruprecht first revealed that its organic matter consisted of decomposed steppe grasses.
According to FAO estimates, black soil is present on 1.8% of the planet’s land surface.
Cuba: Cuba is in the dark. The country sits 90 miles off our Florida coastline. While funded and controlled by Russia and China, the communist regime is barely improving the quality of life of its impoverished citizens. Once again, Obama made a gesture of good faith by opening the tourism route while in office. While people could visit, and loved ones could see each other, repression and fear still ruled. Cuba, with poor infrastructure and conditions barely sustainable, has now fallen into a darker hole.
Massive piles of trash with rotting food accumulate in residential areas as the fuel shortage has crippled waste collection services. It’s not uncommon to see people searching through the trash. The waste management crisis poses serious health risks. Last year there was an outbreak of mosquito-borne illnesses that affected one-third of the population.
We are mostly unaware of this unfolding crisis. The Oscars got more coverage. Both Putin and Trump live in elaborate luxury. But only one is standing by, waiting for the viper of communism and poverty to stick out its head. What is unfolding in Cuba is different. If tourism is resumed, it will be a different Cuba, hopefully a free Cuba.
There are other vipers with good snake names like DEI, that promised "Diversity, Equity and Inclusion," but were forced upon hiring practices of every company and industry. A digital scorecard was kept. This could influence whether a business could get a bank loan or good credit. This government-mandated program could determine a company's social media presence, create cause for scorn or even lead to banning. It even determined the qualifications for military hiring. Hiring unqualified people, while excluding those who qualified, but had the wrong gender or skin color, resulted in a lopsided and burdened economy. Another viper head cut off.
Epstein: Need we say this was one big viper, whose nest is still spilling forth many slithering creatures, whose deadly bites are still being examined. Trump cut off its head by exposing its nest.
These are just a few, and it has required courage. There are others, and surely more to come. Maybe you could add a few. These are difficult and nerve-wracking times. But the time has come.
