Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
In the past, I have to admit that I’ve been skeptical about the wisdom of the average voter. I assumed that they were mostly low-information people, disinterested in politics and the positions of the candidates. They’d grown accustomed to checking off the boxes of the party candidates that they’d always selected.
But I am humbled and thrilled at the same time regarding this latest election.
Maybe it took difficult life experiences to make voters pay attention.
Maybe it was the struggle of paying for gas or putting groceries on the table.
Maybe it was the fear of open borders and violent illegal migrants.
But this election, people paid attention in a way that they never had. Blindly voting their traditional ticket simply was not acceptable to them.
I’m amused at how the Left “blames” voters for the election outcomes. How could the people reject a black woman with a Jewish husband? How could they reject the wisdom of the Left, the people who knew what was best for them? What about party loyalty? What about sacrificing one’s well-being for the future? Didn’t they understand that Donald Trump, the guy who drove a garbage truck and wore an orange vest, would act like a dictator after being elected?
The Left has refused and will continue to refuse to learn the lessons that are right in front of them. Jessica Tarlov, a Democrat pollster who appears on Fox’s The Five, “gets it.” She admitted yesterday that the Dems had not listened to the electorate. They had no concept of the pain, suffering and disillusionment that people were experiencing. They assumed that they just needed to make empty, unclear promises for the future and the people would come around.
Surprise!

I expect there are smart people that are reviewing the effectiveness of The Narrative that was pushed and that adjustments will be made a revised Narrative will be pushed in the future. In the meantime, the unthinking Corrupt Media mouthpieces will continue to emit the previous Narrative of "racist" and "fascist" and "sexist" until they are reprogrammed for 2025.

They may revise their narrative, Don, but I think it will still have the smell of the elitist agenda. Even "smart" people can be stupid.

Matt Taibbi's headline in an email to his subscribers said it best: "Giant Intellectual Asteroid Strikes America's Intellectual Class, Which Fails to Notice." And in inimitable Taibbi-ese, he writes: "As electoral results poured in last night, revealing the incredible fact of eight years and millions of hours of hysterical propaganda somehow achieving negative results, America's opinion-making class continued broadcasting from a magic place far up its own backside, a land no message can reach."
In effect, they blamed white men, white women, black men, Hispanic men, and nonwhite voters in general, plus, via David Corn of Mother Jones, Russia.
And finally, "Perfect, virginal innocence is a rare sight. We should admire it for the shimmering collective pearl it is...."

I think that assessment is pretty accurate. This is from Pew in January:
Most people just want to get on with their daily lives. They engage in politics when they have to, not because they want to. And that's why politicians and the people that work for them are so disengaged with the reality of what voters really want: Be competent in defending the country, protecting our jobs and economic interests, and but leave us alone as much as possible.

Don’t bet on it. With rare exception, ‘The Narrative’ is never wrong. The usual explanation is that the cretins are too stupid to appreciate its brilliance. Ant failure is entirely on the part of those who fail to ‘get it.’
