McCormick gets a Supreme Court Win

Positive recent news for the Dave McCormick campaign in the ongoing PA Senate race against Bob Casey Jr.:

The PA Supreme Court ruled today that mail-in-ballots without a date cannot be counted. A definite boost to McCormick chances of holding on. His lead reportedly has shrunk again to 17,000. It is also more of a boost to the credibility of the PA Supreme Court in having a consistent ruling. The actual court document will have to be read for additional details.

I'm surprised NPR was one of the first outlets to break the news, perhaps for their own reasons. I certainly think the timing of the Democrat Commission Chair in her "the law doesn't matter" statement aided McCormick in court. It would simply appear too absurd for the PA Supreme Court not to back up its previous ruling after such an embarrassing national news story. If McCormick wins, perhaps all of Ricochet can send the outspoken Bucks County Democrat a signed Christmas Card thanking her.

Post Update with recent News:

PA Gov. Josh Shapiro has just recently released a statement supporting the PA Supreme Court ruling and denouncing illegal vote counting—I imagine out of future career prospects and CYA are key causes. He is quoted as saying “I expect all county election officials to adhere to this ruling.”

So now we have a prominent Democrat governor officially acknowledging Democrat illegal ballot counting and denouncing election rigging. This is a news story in itself.

Not sure if there’s more to play out. Shapiro might be saying one thing publicly and encouraging something else privately. If the plug is being pulled on organized illegal ballot counting within the Dem Party, I’d expect Casey Jr to concede within the week. Why have a pyrrhic victory?

This seems like a great opportunity to seize the momentum and have a PA state and GOP national campaign to call for comprehensive election integrity laws. DNC will be in a defensive posture, and the GOP now has the receipts. This proposed campaign also highlights how California—which has some of the most permissive and loosest voting rules—still hasn't completed counting the first round of votes. It's Nov 18! Do Americans really want to be in limbo that long in their elections? Will we all follow California or vote under officials with the attitude in eastern PA?

Yabbut, that official already knew what the Supreme Court had ruled previously, and she publicly stated she was ignoring it. Who is going to stop her and others from ignoring this ruling too?

Once a ballot is separated from the envelope, no one can tell if it's legit or not, nor for whom any illegal ballots were cast.

IIRC, PA has a state police force. Shapiro could send them to take control of those illegal ballots before they can be counted. Oh but wait . . . he's a Dem.

If the illegal ballots have already been merged for the recount, then the PA Supreme Court reiteration of their previous ruling is meaningless. Have state police been deployed to each of the recount centers? Are Republican lawyers and monitors on site at the recount centers? Has anyone been arrested?

Yes, I completely take the above comments to heart.

Once a bare ballot enters the pool, there's no way to disqualify it as I understand the process. Unless somehow it was in a separate pile or similar accounting.

Also, Court ruling without law-enforcement are toothless.

I don't know how they have tabulated the illegal ballots. If they're merged in with the others, then I don't think there is a way to pull them out (as with that Chinese student who voted, and whose ballot had to be counted because there was no way to know which was his). If that's the case, then I think they'd have to wind back to a point in time before the Bucks County Commissioners had their little tantrum and started counting the hinky ballots, and call it a day. If the illegal ballots are tabulated separately, then I suppose they could pull out those totals.

Agree. It is disturbing that there doesn't seem to be much interest in clamping down on this from a legal perspective. I don't think Josh Shapiro has weighed in. Fetterman has said that there are too few votes to make any difference to the outcome, so I guess he's not that bothered.

The reaction is reminiscent of that JD Vance interview with Martha Raddatz, and of her dismissive comment that only a "handful" of apartment buildings were taken over--I think it was in Aurora Colorado--by criminal Venezuelan gangs.

Can the people who are dismissing this matter not hear themselves?

If there are no consequences for breaking a law, people of the left will eventually break it.
