Cincinnati Police Chief Terri Theetge embarrassed herself by castigating social media and professional journalists for
showing the video of a mob of utter scum kicking and beating a couple leaving a restaurant. Her stated complaint was that the videos lack “context.” When asked what was the missing context or justification for mob behavior of a multitude stomping and kicking victims on the ground, she had no answer. The truth is, she simply didn't want anyone to see what happened and form adverse judgments. Only one person out of the 100 observers and violent criminals on the scene called the police. Many could be heard cheering on the attackers. No one intervened until the very end. The videos were recorded and shared by others in the malevolent crowd. That is a sick community. Harsh punishment and the stigma of a criminal record should be broadly applied.

Unfortunately, mob violence by African-Americans is not as rare as it should be. There is a pathology that needs to be eradicated, not explained away, ignored or defended. It is indefensible and unacceptable.

Perhaps Chief Theetge should move to the UK. The police there actively hunt down and arrest people who notice adverse outcomes caused by "South Asian” youths. They also actively control social media. Therefore, in Britain there are no instances of violence, rape or other unfortunate byproducts of social injustice unless committed by indigenous white criminals.

I am so old I can remember when the left wanted free speech and more access to media because they thought they could persuade others to see things their way and endorse their programs and agenda that would arise from better ideas. Now they don’t have anything saleable to say; they have despaired of persuasion and just want to silence everyone else, especially if those dissident voices correctly note that the leftist project has devolved into a social, moral, intellectual and economic disaster.

For the left, personhood and respect must now be earned by ideological loyalty. Trying to discuss or persuade, acknowledging inconvenient facts or opening a dialog are all just traitorous, neo-confederate behaviors, like free speech itself.

Somehow, if Obama could have shut down Fox News and if Elon Musk had never acquired and opened up Twitter, all social ills would disappear, except those carefully selected issues that could be blamed on Republicans and (never really) solved with more regulation and spending. The Obama legacy was an attempt to restructure government, media and public discourse to protect the fantasy that Obama had made everything better just by being Obama, a fantasy he invited others to share. Many people were ready to learn to love Big Brother.

I don’t have a problem with people who disagree with me on issues and want to debate them. I do have real concerns with those who regard me as an enemy for refusing to join a war against reality.

In this particular instance, the video that I have seen does not show the ignition point of the mob beating. Jessie Watters mentioned, on The Five show on Fox News, that one of the Caucasian men might have touched off something at the beginning with one of the Negro men. I have never seen that on video. If true, however, it still doesn't explain the mob of 10 or so people attacking a couple of men and a woman. But, it might explain the motive for the police Chief to withhold immediate judgement. Nevertheless, the concept of allowing immoral and/or illegal behavior by any particular group of people, while holding others responsible for the same behavior, upends the fabric of an entire society, no matter where it happens. Not only is it unfair to those part of the "responsible" group, but it demeans those in the irresponsible group as being lesser citizens, thus extending their alienation from society, and, perhaps even worse, alienating the majority from their own society as well. What that leaves, ultimately, is chaos.

Part of the problem of searching for "context" is that similar mass beatings have been recorded in other cities and in schools. If this were some unprecedented form of violence, that would make the search for a proximate cause more significant. Unfortunately, this behavior and the attitudes and ideation behind it are more common that the MSM wants to admit.

This police chief is just one of many that has entered the transfer portal of woke police chiefs across the United States. Her response should have been we will not tolerate violent conduct in Cincinnati, regardless of who, where, and when it takes place in our city.

She is the typical admin cop. She rationalizes criminal behavior from the school of sociology and social engineering. As one Notre Dame professor said, "Sociology is the slut of the sciences".

The worlds of academia and the media have created a perpetual state of victimhood for young black children. That's the real crime here, in my opinion. Instead of teaching the kids how to achieve great things, they tell the kids they will never achieve great things.

The predictable result is a generation of discontent and angry young blacks.

So many people made so much money hurting the kids in this way. The damage is unfathomable. And the people most responsible just walk away.

John Derbyshire is appearing ever more prescient.

    Especially rule 10 ("a" through "e").
