Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
As I follow the thoughtful discussions about the war in Israel here on Ricochet, I can’t figure out why more people are not speaking about Iran. Maybe the reason is that the complexities of the situation are difficult to manage. Or maybe the future looks so dismal that people are afraid to face the truth. Not like I’m a purveyor of truth! But I wouldn’t be quite so alarmed if I believed we were talking about how dangerous Iran truly is.
In researching Iran’s power, the facts are alarming. We talk about the Iranian proxies, but I never realized the pervasiveness of their power. Not only is Hamas serving them, but Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and hundreds of leaders are guiding multiple terrorist organizations within those countries. This graphic gives you a quick look at their influence.
When I see this data, I want to ask Joe Biden, what in the world are you doing? You are soft-pedaling your comments for Iran, trying to maintain a relationship with them, for what possible purpose? Are you still harboring hopes of an Iran deal? Do you really want Iran to be the leader of the Middle East? Do you believe that they will allow for the country of Israel to exist?
Joe Biden must condemn Iran for their actions and intentions. He must demand that they stop supplying at least Hamas and Hezbollah, who present an immediate danger, not just to Israel, but to the entire Middle East. He must stop funds from being returned to them. He must impose and enforce new sanctions. Doesn’t Biden realize that Iran will do almost anything to any people or any country to rid the world, not only of Israel, but of Jews? Doesn’t he understand that ultimately Iran wants to conquer the world—and that ultimately means the United States, too? Doesn’t he understand that Iran is governed by a primitive and deadly belief system that can be applied against the world?
Do not misunderstand me. I don’t want to engage in a war in the Middle East. I agree with supplying Israel with the arms that they need. But how long do you think Iran will allow that to happen? Those weapons ultimately will be used against Hamas, and could be used against Iran and its proxies. Now the experts are speaking not only of a second front in the North of Gaza, but a third front in the West Bank that harbors Hamas and receives funding from Iran. (We can be grateful so far that Iran is giving the West Bank funds and not sophisticated weapons.)
Congress must do more to demand that Biden condemn Iran. If it doesn’t, we will be drawn into a third world war, and our own survival may be at stake.

It may be that some of us are just quietly watching - as in holding our breath- as the chess pieces are being maneuvered into place on the bigger board.

I envy your self-control, philo. Keeping my mouth shut has never been my strong suit. Since at some point the future of our own country may be at stake, I have to speak.

This is the fruition of the Obama vision of the Middle East. He wanted to establish Iran as the regional hegemon. This is his dream come true.

Based on other acts by this third Obama Administration I would be wondering if supposedly Biden actions supportive of Israel are really that at all and nothing more than a show to keep our domestic resistance under control. I never think Biden is behind any of these decisions.
I fully recognize that most of the chess pieces I talk of are ours. I suspect I am well ahead of you on that “our own country” front.
BTW - How much of that Iranian funding (or similar) now resides in accounts available to ANTIFA and BLM with an election year right around the corner and lots of newly arrived “troops” placed around the country? I suspect the long range planning went far beyond Gaza. Just saying’…
