Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
The AfD regional win in Germany (44% of the vote with 78% turnout) is the harbinger of a fundamental schism in Europe between self-determination and rule by an elite class.
There are incredible inertial forces within the EU resisting any change — whether to energy policy, immigration or national identity. The AfD has been barred in former elections, and their counterparts in other countries have been banned; the existing order is not going to simply hand over power.
The AfD pledges to end the EU (retaining only free trade in goods and services) as well as all the regulations, including climate and energy. Most importantly, they've stuck to their mission of exporting immigrants and trying to save the German national identity.
I would love Europe to be saved. It may be too late. The influx of foreign men has really done a number on Europe.
The crazy part is that the robots may well end the need for an imported labor force entirely — in Europe and everywhere else where birth rates have plummeted (which is basically everywhere).
What do y'all think?

Minus the will to do what is necessary, optics be damned, I fear you may be right.

I think Europe is lost. It will be interesting to see the impact of its demise, particularly on the U.S.

Several people are posting election changes, and also these waves of young men invading in where these populations have not seen before. See the post about the Portsmouth coast in England being invaded by so-called illegals at night!
It is about time that Europeans opened their eyes. However, on that note, we don't want to see a repeat of Nazi Germany. When the populations get stirred up, anything can happen. Also, Volkswagen in Germany 100,00 layoffs - 4000 at Land Rover (who was cyber-attacked a year ago and had to shut down). They lost money and are handing out termination pkgs.
These are new challenges (read between the lines) to also meeting 2030 WEF Agenda, as in zero carbon emissions.......
Add more surveillance, cost of living increases and data centers........rocky times.
PS - Please define the afD and their agenda for those of us that don't follow Europe's politics (we have enough headaches here).

I'm unsure what's at stake here. I could fly to Portugal or Slovenia and they might not be there?
