"Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." – Winston Churchill

Churchill knew of what he spoke. He was in Parliament when Hitler remilitarized the Rhineland in 1936 in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. Had France and Britain moved in with just a battalion or two of troops each, the Germans would have been rolled back. The entire occupation was a bluff and could have been easily reversed. Hitler would have been deposed by the German Army.

World War II would have taken a far different shape -- if it had occurred at all. The Soviet Union, without a German ally (as it had in 1939), might have remained within its borders. Instead, the German monster grew to the point where just four years later it took out France and left Britain in a struggle it barely survived. One where Britain fought on not because they expected victory but because it believed it was better to perish than to live as slaves.

We see the same thing today with Hamas. At present however vicious they are, they are weak. They should be crushed without mercy, having given sufficient provocation to merit retribution. Instead, the international community prattles on about proportionality, cease-fires, and negotiated solutions.

Churchill's caution has application beyond warfare, however. Look at the US education system. The Woke monster could, and should, have been easily crushed when it first emerged in the 1990s. Its proponents could have easily been fired and hounded out of academia then. Instead, it was ignored. Today, education is dominated by those who believe the Cultural Revolution is a how-to manual rather than a cautionary tale. Defeating the Woke monster will be difficult, if it is even possible.

The Academic Left built themselves sizeable bastions via their wholly owned and operated Departments of Aggrieved Group Studies. If a private institution wishes to label this guff as "education," so be it, but the state schools should not be encouraged to reciprocate. If you need a college education to be Black, or a Womyn, or what have you, get into Harvard, Yale, or one of the other knucklehead generators.

Immediate action needed. Home schooling and school choice. Removal of any federal authority over the education of minors.

IN fact, Hitler later stated the obvious out loud [citation needed], that "a handful of troops on the bridge" would have frustrated his plans. Churchill or Shirer (I forget) observed that this initial effortless victory, the first in a chain of nothing-but-net advances, might well have been the earliest opportunity to prevent WWII as we knew it (without re-writing the entire interwar period). That was when the pre-war period really emerged from the post-war.
