El Cid and Cervantes turn in their graves.
Spain has a smidgen of land on the African continent: the Spanish city of Ceuta.
It’s become a magnet for migrants, both legal and illegal. Most are Moroccans. Spain’s 1.1 million Moroccans constitute the largest immigrant population in Spain. There are more now as the border between Ceuta and Morocco has “collapsed.”
“The situation is absolute chaos,” Rachid Sbihi, head of the association that represents Spain’s Civil Guard officers in Ceuta, who police the border, told The Associated Press. “It’s not possible to give precise numbers, but there are thousands of migrants crossing,” he said, adding that the border had “totally collapsed.”
It’s no surprise, I suppose. The Leftist Spanish government plans to give legal status to 500,000 illegal migrants, allowing them to be integrated formally into the workforce.

IIRC, it took Spain some 300 years to expel the Muslims. But here they are again.

It reminds me of descriptions of the barbarians invading Rome when it stopped defending itself. While they are of fighting age they don’t look like people prepared to work, take direction or fight in an organized way. Rape and pillage - that seems more the style. I assume they didn't get themselves there - someone organized and paid for the scheme, like the others happening across Europe. I doubt there will be much integration into the Spanish work force.

I just came back from Europe where I visited Covadonga a few days ago, the site where the Reconquista - the taking back of Spain from the Moors - supposedly started. It took 700 years or so to complete, but I suspect it will take much less time to reverse. Although the government is saying it will return every illegal back across the border. I hope so.

What a hoot !!! How does that square with giving legal status to 500,000 illegals? They have talking out of both sides of their mouth down to a science.
