A Washington Post poll indicated that "Affordability" was a major issue with Tuesday's voters. How did voters, who say they are concerned with affordability, vote for Democrats? It's a mystery. When Biden was sworn into office in January 2021, the CPI was at 262.369. When he left office in Jan 2025, CPI was at 319.086. That's an increase of 21.61% over four years of Democrat rule. 21.61%!!! Since Trump was sworn in, CPI is up 1.68%. How on earth did Dems convince voters that THEY are the party of Affordability?

Never underestimate the power of promises of free stuff, I guess.

Unfortunately, most voters are ignorant and won’t take the time and slight effort to become informed.

It used to be that America was a religious and moral culture. A religious (Christian) and moral people do want free stuff taken from others by a government. A culture that is non-Christian and not moral will demand/vote free stuff and the only outcome is tyranny/communism. Thus the only way to avoid a communist future is to restore a religious (Christian) and moral society.

Slowing the rate of increase doesn’t make anything more affordable. If your monthly grocery bill went up $150 under Biden but is now $170 more under Trump nobody is going to get praise because it only went up an additional $20 this year.

I don't doubt that affordability is a top voter issue as pretty much every candidate mentions it. Doesn't mean it was decisive in the elections last night. Instead it was a voter turnout election motivated by fear and loathing of the current president. From a Democrats perspective his governing methods in the first 10 months confirm their worst fears of how he would govern.
