Chuck Schumer, Adam Schiff, Stephen Colbert, and many more of the usual suspects are whining about steak and lobster costs in the defense budget. Needless to say, they have never served in the military, nor do they understand military life. After the January 6 riots, they housed National Guard service members in parking garages.

I'm extending my little finger to them because they do not deserve the very best of displaying the impudent digit.

Special meals are not unusual for service members on holidays, or before or after heavy combat situations. That includes long deployments.

As my late dad earned his Silver Dolphins as an enlisted sailor during WWII in the Pacific and earned his Gold Dolphins as an officer serving on the boats after WWII, the following video will give you a look at feeding submariners at the present time.

A look at meals for US WWII submariners:

Jon Gabriel talked a bit about the meal prep on submarines in his novel (which was based on his own Navy experience) They do incredible work in the kitchen.

Steak and lobster are properly reserved for people with EBT cards.

In 1984, my battalion celebrated the successful completion of our annual tank crew qualification course with a steak dinner. Sorry, no lobster. As much as I appreciated the thought, some brainiac thought it was a good idea to save on cleanup by issuing us plastic cutlery and paper plates!

I recently saw food prep for subs on Modern Marvels. Amazing!

I never had lobster in the Army but we got steak on occasion. Sometimes after a long exercise, on the weather was right, we would get BBQ'ed chicken.
