Miss Gulch returns after the devastation of the tornado to retrieve Toto so he can be destroyed as originally ordered by the local sheriff. This time Aunt Em and Uncle Henry resist Gulch’s efforts and instruct the farmhands to take Dorothy and Toto to lay low in a hotel in the next county. Miss Gulch brings a suit, and a court orders that Aunt Em and Uncle Henry’s farm is to be deeded over to Gulch. Aunt Em and Uncle Henry walk to the next county to retrieve Dorothy and the farmhands, and they begin a long trek to California to pick oranges. They eventually meet up with the Joad family from Oklahoma, also on their way to California.
The depressing circumstances of the narrative are offset by optimistic songs about rainbows, sunshine, bluebirds and the National Recovery Administration.

Fine work, Brian. An excellent mashup.
I'd also like to see something about a pioneering comical and musical expose of antisemitism, Gentlemen Prefer Agreements, in wide screen Technicolor.

Hell yah. Gulch is the real victim here.

I'm a victim. The devil made me do it. (and other lame woke excuses)

If the movie didn't take the dream sequence route, Dorothy could hide out in Oz. Once I read the books to my daughter, I disliked the movie a little bit. Oz was a real place, not a concussion-induced realm.
