Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
I came across this graphic that encapsulates the current state of education & family in America. Since it’s Father’s Day, I’d like to dovetail that graphic with a quote from Barack Obama. It’s almost 20 years old and would probably be disavowed today but it’s one of the few things on which he and I agree…
“We know that more than half of all black children live in single-parent households, a number that has doubled — doubled — since we were children. We know the statistics — that children who grow up without a father are five times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime; nine times more likely to drop out of schools and 20 times more likely to end up in prison. They are more likely to have behavioral problems, or run away from home or become teenage parents themselves. And the foundations of our community are weaker because of it.”

It's been that way for decades. Chicago gets most of the state money and lags in measurable results

Just exactly what do you mean by the title?
It is the money, when it's our tax dollars, and it's going to people who may correctly identify a problem but have zero inclination and/or ability to solve it. Leftists are always willing to take the money and pour it into their efforts to further the global socialist agenda and just keep restating that there is a problem that needs solving and its takes more money. This pattern emerges repeatedly.

The solution isn’t money.

The Democrat/Socialists flourish in the spending without results.

Also, reading this made me think of those stories we heard ten or fifteen years ago about the outrageous spending in, I think it was maybe Kansas City but I guess it could have been anywhere (and probably is), spending on brand new state of the art school campuses for inner city students, costing hundreds of millions of dollars. Lavish pools, hi-tech lab stuff. And test scores didn’t improve. Also I am remembering some coverage of some scandals about teachers and administrators running off with a lot of the money, finding ways to do monkey business to the increased funding to schools that would make Hamas take notes.
We were all outraged about this for a few weeks, then I guess we were all directed to move on to the next outrage and this just quietly faded into wherever Leftist corruption goes to quietly continue. I don’t remember anything changing, or it ever getting brought up again. Certainly no one went to jail, or even got fired.
Its hard to believe of course that anything like this could ever be going on in Chicago of all places, heaven forfend. But that graph would make a lot more sense if you imagine that $28,000/student of the money was being siphoned off to, say, help the mayor with his barber bills, etc., etc., etc., etc., ….
