“I am obliged to confess I should sooner live in a society governed by the first two thousand names in the Boston telephone directory than in a society governed by the two thousand faculty members of Harvard University.” - William F. Buckley, Jr.

For a glimpse into the timelessness of Bill Buckley’s almost 64-year-old observation, consider the different worlds inhabited by the credentialed and elite class of Americans versus working-class Americans. One tends to be more isolated from the effects of their pet policies and causes, while the other lives with the consequences of those policies every day. It’s essentially the difference between theoretical solutions to luxury problems and reality, and at the moment reality is sending the cloistered elite so far out of their minds that their last functioning brain cell just filed for unemployment.

G. Gordon Liddy once described the liberal as a well-meaning chap who feels a great debt toward his fellow man — a debt he proposes to pay with your money. The way that worked out over the previous four years was that the elites solved their luxury problem of believing America to be insufficiently diverse by throwing the nation’s borders wide open and welcoming every gang member, Islamic radical, predator, human trafficker and societal misfit the third world had to offer. They let them into the country, unvetted, and even paid their way to destinations across the land with your money.

Next, these pampered eggheads concluded that there were just too many people in prison. So they installed a judicial revolving door known as cashless bail in major city jails and began releasing predators and violent felons whose arrest records had more red flags than a Chinese military parade back into the community. The result was instant pandemonium. Never missing a chance to make a bad situation worse, they defunded and decimated police departments while slandering the few officers who remained as racists. Progressive elites then smiled, nodding their regal heads in approval at their solutions while ignoring the carnage and the rising body count of dead Americans in their wake.

Eventually our betters got fidgety and needed another luxury problem to solve. So they looked at basic human biology, which hasn’t changed since the time of Adam and Eve, and said, “Lo! Verily I say unto thee, science hath come up short!”

In a stupendous act of one-upmanship, they declared X and Y chromosomes obsolete and willed into existence a herd of new genders, commanding one and all to kneel and celebrate this historic discovery which dated back at least 15 minutes. But the benighted masses had been too busy working to pay the taxes they owed to their betters and hadn’t noticed the evolution.

But after a tsunami of progressive nagging and an avalanche of new pronouns, the troglodytes began to get the point. Or they at least recited the required incantations in the hope that their betters would please stop talking. Either way, a few of them eventually confessed their regret at not knowing the ancient 15-minute old truth that a woman can sound like Jame Earl Jones, look like Arnold Schwarzenegger, be hung like Mr. Ed and pummel a biological woman into a coma in the boxing ring before walking straight away into the ladies' room.

For the final performance in their flaming porta-potty rodeo, our self-appointed superiors displayed a staggering level of ineptitude in foreign policy and national defense that made Neville Chamberlain look like he rode shotgun with Genghis Khan on weekends. I know they think they have to break a few eggs to make a utopian omelette, but billions of dollars in weaponry left to the Taliban, American forces being fired on in the Persian Gulf while then-President Roomba doddered about shaking hands with thin air, brought us closer to World War III than we’d been in decades.

As for The Great Unwashed Masses, we were expected to be good little subjects and accept the marauding gangs of grunting morons, the looting and robbing, the rapes and assaults, as we smile meekly whilst our cities and neighborhoods became subsumed in a pre-civilizational culture that is alien to American tradition and civil society. We were expected to hand our earnings, our schools, and public services over to those who came here illegally, see? It’s like a burglar breaking into your home and helping himself to your things while the authorities declare him to be a member of your family. Furthermore, if you resist the intrusion, you’ll be labeled a fascist, racist, xenophobe, and the incarnation of Adolf Hitler. They expected law-abiding citizens to lie back and think of diversity while taking one, two, half a dozen, or tens of millions for the team.

Except, we didn’t play along. Not this time. Barack Obama could castigate us as bitter people who cling to their Bibles and guns, Hillary could say we are deplorable and Joe Biden could (and did) call us garbage, but we no longer cared. Our choice was clear. We could continue down the path to national collapse or we could take a shot at restoring American greatness with an uncouth, bombastic, irascible and highly successful businessman who ditched the usual sophistry of lily-livered Republican politicians in favor of straight talk and action. We’d had enough equivocations and broken promises. We wanted the guy from Queens.

For once, we got what we voted for, which was a return to the ideas that motivated the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Right on cue, progressives and their limp-wristed acolytes in the GOP came down with an aggravated case of the vapors and retired to their fainting couches, and they’ve been lobbing spitballs at us ever since. From David French, who speaks with apostolic certainty in his Sunday Castigations, to Bill Kristol (who is making Joy Reid sound sane), they are all shocked, (shocked I tell you!) by a president who has the audacity to enforce existing immigration laws and the unmitigated temerity to do something Joe Biden once advocated; namely, taking the fight to the drug cartels rather than waiting for their deadly products to be delivered on American streets.

Sorry, but no, Jeb(!), breaking into the US illegally and preying on law-abiding citizens isn’t “an act of love” anymore than robbing a bank is an exercise in entrepreneurial risk management. You see, back before diversity became our strength, if you assaulted someone, or robbed them, or carjacked them, looted a business, sold illicit drugs, murdered someone or robbed a store, you could expect to be arrested, tried, and then sentenced to a level of punishment commensurate with the crime.

The return of common sense solutions and individual accountability is being accompanied by the increasingly unhinged antics of Avocado Toast Aristocrats and Trust Fund Trotskyites across the country. But they never could abide simple logic and reason any more than they can abide a president who actually gives first priority to the well-being of his own countrymen.

“No human being is garbage!” they thundered when President Trump used the term to describe members of Minnesota’s Somali community, some of whom have managed to defraud the state of over $1 billion of taxpayer money. As The New York Times writes:

Federal prosecutors say that 59 people have been convicted in those schemes so far, and that more than $1 billion in taxpayers’ money has been stolen in three plots they are investigating. That is more than Minnesota spends annually to run its Department of Corrections. Minnesota’s fraud scandal stood out even in the context of rampant theft during the pandemic, when Americans stole tens of billions through unemployment benefits, business loans and other forms of aid, according to federal auditors.

For his part, President Trump observed that Minnesota is now “a hub of fraudulent activity,” adding that the state’s Somali fraudsters should be “sent back to where they came from.” Of course it’s bombastic to refer to human beings as garbage, but they are a demographic of which 81 percent are on some sort of welfare, 54 percent are on food stamps and 73 percent are on Medicaid. While the term “garbage” may be overwrought, when the preponderance of demographics is on the public dole while simultaneously defrauding the state of more money than Minnesota’s Department of Corrections spends annually, we aren’t exactly talking about Chamber of Commerce material here. To go all clutchy-pearly at Donald Trump’s bombast is a sign of umbrage gone awry.

Where was the Fainting Couch Caucus when their rabid supporters called half the country racist, or fascist, or Nazis? Did these olympians of fragility utter a peep when many in their number not only celebrated the assassination of a prominent conservative but called for more of the same?

There’s an old military adage that you attract the heaviest barrage of missiles when you are directly over an enemy target. The majority of the country has learned that you can’t trust Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, Bernie Sanders, AOC, or any other progressive to keep you safe in your home or in your community because they will release predators back into your community at the first opportunity. Nor can you trust these people with your family’s safety; you can’t trust them to contain and deter America’s enemies abroad either. We’ve learned that the progressives’ devotion to bad ideas is so strong that they are willing to fight to the last dead American citizen, if need be. If they think we’re going overboard in correcting the nation’s course, it’s only because they spent years going overboard to screw everything up.

You don’t get to trash our home and then tell us how to clean up your mess. So make yourself comfortable on your little fainting couch and complain all you want. We no longer give a damn.

Poor blacks and people in poor communities always suffer the most from crime. Because it doesn't fit luxury belief ideology.

    I agree with you 100%.

When we came to the US my husband and his employers had to PROVE that nobody else could do his job, and it was pretty much understood that an immigrant must be either a net positive for the US or they must be able to prove that they had been victims of torture or political persecution by the government of their home country.

In recent years every thing seems to have been turned on its head and my Democrat friends even expect me to be supportive of every illegal immigrant simply because I’m an immigrant. As a fellow human being I certainly do have sympathy, but that doesn’t equate with affirming all their actions, no matter how egregious, any more than I would affirm a badly behaving woman because she’s a woman , or a criminal white person because I’m white or a murderous Roman Catholic because I’m of the same religion.
It pretty simple: “By their fruits shall ye know them”!

One man’s fainting couch is another man’s righteous rant, I guess.
