Literally. Here's the Google Trends listing of the relative number of occurrences of the phrase "No Kings" over the last month. (Click on it to see the live data.)
Of course, these same folks had absolutely no problem with King Obama.
CNN: Liberals want Obama to be a king, not a president
NBC News: Why Obama wishes he were king
And they didn't consider certain international issues; some countries really like having kings.
So "No Kings" was something they came up with; they thought it had the best chance of success, and they ran with it. Credit where credit's due, this did take some organizational skills.

The organizational skills were dispensed with the money.

These demonstrations, violent or otherwise, don't cost a lot of money. Print up some signs, pay some protesters, buss'm in, drop off a couple pallets of bricks; it's not expensive.
The organizational skill is in setting up each of the demonstrations locally. There were a lot of them. There's timing, finding a location to assemble, traffic management.
And for the riots, it's necessary to coordinate things with the mayors, police, district attorneys, lawyers, and others, to keep their guys from being arrested. This is the same organizational capability you saw in the BLM/Antifa/Floyd riots.
And coordination with the media, of course, for the right spin.

"But let’s lay all that aside for a moment and talk about how to respond to one of these "No Kings" protestors from a position that grants a basis of dignity in approach. I offer this: the left wing is desperate for a king. Everything about progressivism yearns for someone who will make all things safe, who will guarantee the right to all self-centered behavior, who will provide all things needed for one to live in equity rather than through what one earns. Progressivism demands a king who will uphold its cause zealously, and punish people who dare to assert that the law should provide rights and reasonable limitations equally to all citizens for the purpose of a virtuous society. Their king will tell you what you can drive, what you can say, what you can eat, and how you may use your land. They want a king who will literally cover your face and inject your body, a king who will take your children if you deny transgender ideology, a ruler who will terminate your bank accounts and your job if you stray from depraved thinking. The progressive left wing wants what it has always wanted: power. It needs—no, demands—a dark lord who will, as the great novelist J.R.R. Tolkien wrote, rule them, find them, and bind them in darkness.
No, the protestors we see now do not reject a king. They demand one."
