US Catholic Bishops Embrace Suicidal Empathy

Our friends at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) have missed the mark once again, with the new resource, Islamophobia: A Guide for U.S. Catholics on Anti-Muslim Bigotry.

This is the opening paragraph:

Catholics and Muslims are vital, vibrant religious communities in the United States, and they constitute the two largest and most diverse religious groups worldwide. Though conflicts have arisen over the ages, there have also been inspiring and ordinary moments of collaboration and friendship. The two faith communities share much in common, despite notable theological differences.

Wow. There is nothing vital about Islam with respect to the United States. And perhaps the use of the word “conflicts” is a bit underwhelming. And to tell you the truth, I don’t really know what I share in common with the Muslim faith community of, let’s say, Dearborn, Michigan.

Anyways, the document goes downhill from there. Islam has been trying to overtake Christendom since its inception. And if one looks at Europe today, one could say they are making great progress. We see this in the USA as well, as Muslims buy churches and cathedrals and turn them into mosques.

Bishops, we should be afraid of Islam. They are an existential threat to Christendom. Your pathetic guidance of the Church has emptied the pews and caused many to lose their faith. Wake up. Don’t try to give me this touchy-feely synodal church garbage. Go out and evangelize. Don’t rely on your tiresome call for dialogue with Islam. Preach the Gospel to them. Teach us faithful why Islam is in error. But that would take courage and fortitude and effort...

The icing on the cake is that this document was written by a white woman with a PhD — seemingly one of the most dangerous demographics around.
