Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
In spite of all the scientific data that has stated that transgenderism is very rare, and that men and women are highly unlikely to be transgender, MA Governor Maura Healey has decided to take her own stand and appoint a trans woman (who is biologically a man) to a commission:
‘Is this a Babylon Bee headline?’ Massachusetts Family Institute wrote on Facebook last Wednesday, as the news sparked harsh criticism of the state’s decision. ‘No, in fact, this is the logical conclusion of feminism in Massachusetts society. Feminism suggests that women can do anything men can do. If this is true, then there is basically no difference between the sexes. If there [is] no distinction between male and female, then why can’t a woman become a man, or vice versa? If men and women are basically the same, then this man, Giselle Byrd, is perfectly justified in wearing the female form like a Halloween costume.’
A recent report from Health and Human Services, following a comprehensive review of the data, assures the public that this kind of treatment is not only inappropriate for children, but dangerous as well. Most children outgrow gender dysphoria and don’t go into adulthood as a trans person.
Even the International Olympic Committee has barred trans athletes from competing against biological women:
‘We understand that there’ll be differences depending on the sport … but it was very clear from the members that we have to protect the female category, first and foremost to ensure fairness,’ IOC President Kirsty Coventry said. ‘But we need to do that with a scientific approach and the inclusion of the international federations who have already done a lot of work in this area.’
The irony is that this trans woman is on a commission that is supposed to look out for women and girls. How can we get through to these deluded people that men are men and women are women?
One commission member insists that this appointment will make a contribution to the mission of the group:
Healey selected Giselle Byrd, a biological male who identifies as a woman, to serve as a commissioner. Byrd also works as executive director of the Theater Offensive in Boston, and has held roles in LGBTQ advocacy organizations. The commission announced the appointment in August alongside another Healey appointee. Commission Chairwoman Mary-dith Tuitt praised the new commissioners. ‘These leaders bring a fresh perspective to the work of the MCSW with a diverse range of personal and professional experience,’ she said in a release adding their involvement ‘will only enhance the commission’s ability to focus on our mission and agenda to impact change for all women and girls across the Commonwealth.’
The obvious response to this lefty is that there are probably hundreds of women who have been intimately involved with women’s issues from birth (which Byrd is not) and can be selected with diverse credentials as well. The selection is a slap in the face to biological women.
I’m so tired of the virtue signaling that contradicts the truth.

The Chairwoman (do we have any verification of that?) spells her first name Mary-dith?
That's Moro-nick.

It's the way it was published. It wouldn't surprise me if it was correct!

Works for me, but I suspect the governor would hate it, Kent.

I don’t think Healey is signaling anything at all, certainly not virtue. She is a very aggressive lesbian - about being lesbian -and I venture that she believes this crap. Mostly I think she’s not a fan of heterosexual females and quite dislikes heterosexual males. So this call - and the very commission - is right on brand. Who knows what the MCSW mission means - to “promote(s) fundamental freedoms, basic human rights and the full enjoyment of life for all women and girls.” Much less- which “girls”? The born girls or the IBelieveIam girls?
It’s right on brand.
