For all of the hoopla and publicity and promotions and WEF press releases and USAID kickbacks.... the sources of energy over the past 30 years have barely budged.
Isn't this amazing? I reckon if you polled the public, or politicians, none of them would come close to appreciating that coal and oil and natural gas consumption have, in sum, grown since 1992!
People do not appreciate how hard it is to change (or abandon) massive infrastructure investments.

A simplistic reading would suggest that all the modern efforts have just re placed traditional biomass...

And especially if the "new technology" actually requires even more of the old technology to even get built.
For example, "wind technology" requires fossil fuels for manufacturing, installation, maintenance...
