Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.

It's conspiracy theory week at the 3WHH, as host John Yoo guides us through the mysteries of the shootings at Brown University and MIT, the mystery of why an article about the corruption of the DEI world should suddenly go viral just now, what conspiracy theory could explain why White House chief of staff Susie Wiles would call VP Vance a "conspiracy theorist" (among other things), and last but not least, how Candace Owens stole Lucretia's tin foil hat right out from under her nose! After all this, we expect Santa will be delivering fancy new tin foil hats to us next week.

Steve, the shooting was in a ground floor classroom at Brown. I took a couple of courses there in the 1970s. The door on the left exits on the ground.

For some reason I thought it was on an upper floor. Not sure why. Still an oddly specific room target on any floor I think.

There was the September (2025) (coincident with the killing of Charlie Kirk) YouGov poll finding a high degree of correlation between leftism (they called it "liberal") and youth and the acceptability of violence to accomplish political goals. I think other less thorough polls have found similar correlations. As many as a third of young leftists consider political violence acceptable.
Universities are full of young leftists, so as long as that correlation exists, universities will be hotbeds of political violence.

Edit to add that no such correlation is evident among conservatives regardless of age.

I recommend to y'alls attention the Futurama movie Into the Wild Green Yonder. In the movie, Fry, having developed an accidental case of telepathy, wears a tinfoil hat to keep out the voices. Throughout the movie it keeps changing shape; when he's at the poker table it's a visor, when he's a security guard it's a cop hat, when he's searching the desert it looks like something the French Foreign Legion would wear. I don't think it ever becomes a Santa hat, but the precedent is there.
