Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.

Among the revelations of this week's episode that were entirely predictable when you think about it: "Lucretia" was a child TV star in Mason City, Iowa, on the local non-PBS kid's show "Bart's Clubhouse"; John Yoo confesses he was bad at sports as a schoolkid; and as everyone can guess, in childhood Steve merely aspired to be a walking historical analogy when he grew up. Meanwhile, poor Phil Munoz, last week's drive-by guest, is still in therapy. . .
So what's all this about the Epstein Files? Does Richard Epstein still have any unexpressed thoughts at this point. . . Wait. What's that? You mean Jeffrey Epstein's files? Never mind. Anyway, we weigh the evidence and circumstances as to whether Epstein's exploits merit elevation to the status of plausible conspiracy or not.
And this week saw the fulfillment of Glenn Garvin's classic 1983 article, "How Do I Hate NPR? Let Me Count the Ways." And Steve offers his favorite recipes for how he'd like to see Big Bird cooked.
Other name checks on this episode include Zohran Mamdani, Upton Sinclair, Tony Podesta, Jasmine Crockett, and Craig Masback (bonus points if you know that name). And some exit music in a minor key to bring listeners back donw after this extra-exuberant episode (and also to annoy Lucretia. . .).

All those British shows John likes, and a lot more, can be found at Britbox or Amazon Prime, I watch so many legal dramas I’m thinking of getting a wig.

Long time workout listener and Lucretia fanboy!
The Mason City reference really caught my eye due to my now living in blissful retirement at an undisclosed location 50 miles or so West of Mason.
Retirement includes lots of reading (thanks for the Reagan books Steve!), writing on my Substack/Ricochet, and occasional exposure to toxic social media.
FYI, when I click on the "leave a 5 star review" link I go to Ricochet support. I've been remiss in doing a 5 star rating and review. I will attempt to figure it out.
I believe NPR to be unbiased! It faithfully covers both the left and the far left! In the 80's I had a 30 minute commute and listened to MN NPR every weekday. I have a ton of "drive off the road" laughter moments while listening. One was one of the broadcasters saying they had proof that NPR was unbiased because a poll of their listeners conformed to a bell shaped curve! (I now your listeners don't need this, but a self selecting group nearly always conforms to a bell shaped curve. TWHH listeners would likely conform to a bell curve as well.)
Keep up the great work!

Lucretia, I went on the hunt for Orphan Barrel Woven Honor months ago when you announced on a WWWHH podcast that you found it at your local Costco. Week after week, I kept an eye out for it at my local Costco (the “headquarters” store in Issaquah, Washington)—to no avail.
Knowing that Steve would be visiting me in Washington soon, I couldn’t wait any longer for a Costco sweetheart deal. Instead, I had to suck it up and pay RETAIL for the spirit at Toral Wine. I knew if you liked the Orphan Barrel offering, Steve would hate it and, as you well know, there are few things in life more satisfying than depriving the Professor of his smokey Islay!
For Steve’s previous visit, I presented a decent range of Scotch options, most notably a bottle of 21 year-old Balvenie. He predictably turned up his nose at the more expensive Balvenie and sucked up the ashtray (your words) flavored Ardbeg instead.

Love the show. Because I'm not one of those young hipster dufus listeners, I have to crank the volume so I can hear Steve laugh over the sound of my lawnmower. Man.
It's a bad sign when the outro music is crystal clear and loud but the conversation isn't. This last sentence officially ends the Grumpy Oldmyn portion of this Ricochet post.
