The Three Whisky Happy Hour: Kamalamamadrama?

Lucretia hosts this week, which means 'Swift Boating' has a whole new meaning, as Taylor Swift's whirled tour on behalf of whirled peas has run into Islamic terrorism, but shhhh, you can't say that in Britain right now, so how can they let her concert series go forward? Too obvious a provocation.

Of course we have our weekly update on Kamalamamadrama, dissect the meaning of the abrupt firing of Columbia's president (with Steve arguing she is a liar in any case),

After reviewing some encourging recent legal initiatives, involving property rights, UCLA's tolerance of anti-Semitism on campus, and the ongoing legal tussle over the southern border, we finally get around to another rousing argument pitting Steve and Lucretia against John Yoo over his stubborn positivism. Is John just punking all of us? That's Steve's hypothesis. In any case, we went into overtime a bit on this one, but the episode offers some excellent improv bumper music at the end that we bet no one knows, for the hearty souls who hear us out.

I have always thought we could look to the Declaration in its status as a foundational document like the Federalist Papers to shed light on what the Founders meant in the text of the Constitution where there is ambiguity, but we can't make law based on ideas that are not in the text. You couldn't, for example, declare the death penalty unconstitutional because the Declaration lists "life" among the certain unalienable rights with which our Creator endowed us.

Insert young legal professionals "I like this natural law stuff, seems right. How can I apply it in practice?" Lucretia answers "No plugins with magic answers! Don't apply natural law to legal decisions. BUT it's super easy and obvious...."

No wonder John cant find many natural law practitioners in the industry....

Maybe you and Lucretia could come up with some 3 pronged tests or something. NL would probably take off more if there was something like that.

The progressive lib's mind latches onto chants and mantras, and we can't even get a 3 pronged test to rally around... It's lost opportunity when we don't have sooooomeee kind of plug in. It would probably persuade 8% of those mantra minded to switch sides if they had something to chant. Think about it, your magnum opus could be creating a test for NL and a chant or two...
