Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.

Lot going on this week, including Steve successfully completing his mandatory online "Abusive Conduct Training," otherwise known as Lucretia's How-To Guide to Blunt Speaking. Did you know abusive conduct is bad? How would we have known without an online training module?
The good news for Lucretia is that "making unpopular statements about controversial issues" is not considered abusive. The bad news is that "making egregious statements about a person's lifestyle" is considered abusive, so we have to stop ragging on John for his McRibb fixation.
The main subject this week is the turmoil in Israel about proposed reforms to its judiciary. Somehow this is an international story, as it involves possible interference from the United States, and with might be called the Internationale of the Administrative State. Did you know Israel doesn't have a written constitution? This is a large part of the problem. While the judicial reform package Netanyahu's government put forward may have some defects, its defeat—and defeat is what has occurred, make no mistake—is a loss for the cause of constitutional government everywhere.
We also get in some observations about Trump's indictment, the Nashville shooting, the proposed Census question about whether someone is a descendant of slaves, and a new feature: Lucretia's Stupid Person of the Week.

The Dems, with the support of the media, can get away with Machiavellian maneuvers. Yes, the Trump indictment should be tossed out, but it's a no-lose situation for them. If the Supreme Court rightfully tosses it, they then get to campaign against the court's "illegal action" and its "illegitimacy." Same idea as Biden's clearly unconstitutional student loan debacle: they get credit for trying to "help" people and get to blame the court when it's properly ruled unconstitutional.
And, yes, there will be cheers from the Dems behind closed doors if a few Proud Boys show up in NY and create problems over Trump's indictment. Media will play the video every day until the election.

Lucretia nails it when she said that the left hides what’s going on from their “common sense” supporters. It reminds me of a conversation I had with a good friend who I would call a normal Democrat. I asked her why there is even such a thing as drag queen story hour. She looked at me with astonishment and said she’d never heard of it. I don’t know how to fight that. I try to suggest other sources of news, but I think conservative outlets have been so demonized that they are just considered false. It’s a real problem.

-Great minds....etc...I said to my wife that we should not be surprised if/when a hard-ass super MAGA-D.A. somewhere in some US county gets a Grand Jury to go after the entire Biden family...WHY NOT? There seems to be AT LEAST as much to go on vs. the Bidens...No?
Also...while I'm not a lawyer nor Constitutional scholar, and while I realize the lack of equivalence, in what meaningful way is what Bragg seems (we've not yet seen the indictment) to be doing with The Donald, differ from a Bill of Attainder? All Beria did was effectively do this for his Uncle Joe.
PS---I had NOT listened to the whole podcast and just now got to Prof Yoo spek of...BERIA! (I'm scaring myself!)
