This epicly (is "epicly" a real word?) gonzo episode finds Steve still somewhere in the middle of the storm-tossed north Pacific Ocean, while John and Lucretia hold down the fort from various locales back on dry land.

But who else can knit together the return of McDonald's hot apple pies with Elon Musk's hot SpaceX IPO, hot Apple i- devices and their security issues, hot section 702 renewal, hot rulings from the Supreme Court, and the need to take all of these in sections.

Speaking of taking things in sections, we do our best to break down the Trump-Iran MOU, though our thoughts may be obsolete by the time these pixels reach your screen, since news overnight suggests the interim terms of the MOU are already being violated, turning the whole scene into chaos.

But our collective judgment is that the critics are being a bit premature, and that there are good reasons for taking a wait-and-see attitude. As someone likes to say, we'll just have to see what happens, as it is far from clear that the MOU is Obama-lite.

Meanwhile, since today is Juneteenth, don't miss Lucretia's modest proposal for how the liberation of slaves in 1865 should be commemorated, over at Civitas Outlook.

(Since Steve is producing and posting this episode from the middle of the ocean, we're making it an ad-free edition, since the geography-based auto-ad placement might post up some truly bizarre ads. Enjoy!)

    Epically, perhaps

With Lucretia talking about the surveillance cameras, remember to remind your neighborhood tweakers that those cameras contain about ten pounds of copper.

So...Presidential Trivia...Jefferson liked Madeira BUT his favorite was Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, a GREAT Tuscan red. He imported the largest casks he could find.

You are the experts and I am merely an old (80 next week) former USAF Intel Officer and a lesson I learned even before the fall of Saigon and Biden's Afghan fiasco was that if you're not winning, you're losing---and it's in the perception more than the reality that drives the scenario. It appears we did not .............WIN....though the military reality is we won BIGLY.

So, when The Donald announced the 'cease fire' cum threats 'like they've never seen before' and for about 38 days the Iranians violated the cease fire on a daily basis and he finally hit them for 2 days...well.....this jaded Trump voter looks at the POTUS in a much less favorable light. All his military successes are in the book and well known BUT just today the Iranians are still in Switzerland telling Trump what WE and he must do and even announce (in reality or not) that the straits are closed again.

Then to be more off message he gets into a stupid STUPID fight with Giorgia Meloni because he could not tolerate her Catholic criticism of his comments about the (awful) Leo XIV! He and his mouth (they?) are his (their) own worst enemies.

Finally, while I hope it's merely theater, but saying aloud that HE TELLS ISRAEL what to do ...is ....nuts!

    YUCK.

Very well stated!! The President has clowned himself the past 6 months as has JD Vance….The entire second term has been a clown show if one is being honest. But hey….we will put lip stick on this pig every which way we can. The Conservative movement is about to rue the day they allowed Donald Trump to be the standard bearer. Of course what the real issue is that the Conservative movement could offer no one to counter Donald Trump so here we are.
