In our last episode before the election, the 3WHH bartenders pour a stiff one in honor of the end of recycling, since were back to pure garbage now, though Biden getting in his last chomps of a baby was a special bonus to end the week.

We spend most of this episode reflecting on the final week of the campaign, arguing about what kind of vote fraud may or may not take place, and offering our final predictions for both the election result and the aftermath. You think it's over Tuesday! Think again. As the great Bluto Blutarsky asked so poignantly, Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

A question for @StevenHayward. You opined that a higher voter turnout is a sign of trouble. I can understand your thoughts. However, I've read about states and countries that saw voter turnout rise after legislation passed to improve the security of an election. I see that as a positive as voters probably have increased faith that their votes might actually count. Is there an optimal voter turnout percentage?

The Dems have repeatedly stated that Trump is Hitler. Former Sen. Claire McCaskill said he was worse than Hitler. Media is clearly doing all it can for Harris, completely abandoning all semblance of ethics and objectivity. Some even flatly say there are no "two sides of the story" where Trump is concerned. Some 250,000 people canceled their WaPo subscriptions because of the failure to endorse Harris. Consider all of that, and then explain why Republicans should NOT be suspicious of Dem cheating? You go back in time to 1933 Germany, and you have the chance to prevent WWII and the Holocaust simply by stuffing a few ballot boxes, and you're telling me you wouldn't do it? Simply not credible.

Having said that, I, like John, am highly dubious of a lot of what we see on X. I was a journalist for 40 years (before journalism died in the Trump era), and my old city editor used to say, "If your mother says she loves you, check it out." These brief videos on X purporting to show, for example, some guy from Rhode Island dropping off a huge stack of ballots in Pennsylvania could be anything. We don't know the context, we don't know anything about the poster, etc. Not saying they aren't instances of actual fraud, but sitting at home, scrolling on my computer, I have no way of knowing.

Let’s say that Biden won a state by 10,000 votes in 2020. There were ten different frauds each involving 5,000 votes. The R catch one and it’s stopped. The other nine still give the margins of victory. I think that Steve is too sanguine about our ability to catch fraud.

Higher voter turnout does not equal better democracy. There's probably something like a Laffer curve for voter participation.

That's what I was thinking. If turnout is really low, no one trusts the results. If turnout is too high, people want goodies, as Steve said.
