Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.

Steve figured a nine time zone distance might provide a margin of safety from Lucretia's rear-end kicking over Steve's article "What the Hell Happened to Bill Kristol?", which Lucretia finds sorely wanting. And his attempts to mollify Lucretia with tales of how great Hungary's conservatives are was mostly unavailing, even if true.
Anyway, in this slightly abbreviated episode (because Steve had to rush off to begin a typical Central European Saturday night of drinks and dinner over a four hour period), we quickly strafe the Biden Administration for its shredding of Trump's foreign policy achievements, with the partial exception of the Afghan pullout, which we support because of the comprehensive failure of our politico-military establishment ever to come up with a serious plan to win.
We also look over Abigail Shirer's essay "Want to Save America? Stop Acting Like a Conservative," and from there proceed to the main event, which is the fantastically well-reasoned legal opinion about Critical Race Theory from Austin Knudson, the attorney general of the state of Montana. Settle in with a cup of coffee and read the whole thing; Steve and Lucretia only hit a few highlights before Steve had to run off to a boozy night on the town.

I don’t think Trump was responsible for the Georgia senate losses. McConnell came out with a bill just prior to it full of pork. Why vote R I thought? I heard on a podcast that M thought they had the Georgia Senate races in the bag. This is on the feckless Republicans in the Senate and the R reluctance to fight voter fraud. And Burke is still boring!

Damn! I forgot to work in a Burke reference this week! I blame jet lag.

Steve, how was the flight? I’m not going to wear a mask on a 9-10 hour flight. Was it full of passengers. What’s the jab rule for flights across the pond.

Flights are surprisingly full right now, everywhere. Airlines aren't back up to full schedule yet, and it shows. Masks required. Quite a pain. Vaccine or negative COVID tests required all along the way. Europe seems quite strict about it.

You’re a better man than I am (but we already knew that in spite of Burke). I wouldn’t fly for more than four hours where there’s a blasted mask requirement.
