A Dark Day Around the World, with Dan Polisar

As the terror attacks in Paris unfolded, John, Scott and Steve hosted Episode 29 of the Power Line Show. The attacks threw both halves of the show into sharp relief. We started by interviewing Dan Polisar, author of in important article in titled “What Do Palestinians Want?”

Polisar reviewed years’ worth of public opinion polling of Palestinians. He found several common themes; a common denominator is a lack of contact with reality. As twisted as Palestinian culture is, what we saw in Paris tonight reflects an even more virulent version of the same ideology.

In the second half of the show, we talked about the bizarre virus that has infected one American campus after another. The conversation is entertaining in a black humor sort of way. Here again, the terrorist attacks now dominating the news put protesting American students and their petty grievances in a harsh light. “Safe space,” indeed. It’s a somber day, and a hard-hitting, but entertaining show.

There is no safe space - this will change the presidential election, the border issue, priorities, and it should.

The first paragraph of Polisar's article, dated November 2, 2015, may also explain today's attacks in Paris:

The most recent wave of Palestinian terror attacks, now entering its second month, has been mainly the work of “lone wolf” operators running over Israeli civilians, soldiers, and policemen with cars or stabbing them with knives. The perpetrators, many in or just beyond their teenage years, are not, for the most part, activists in the leading militant organizations. They have been setting forth to find targets with the expectation, generally fulfilled, that after scoring a casualty or two they will be killed or badly wounded. What drives these young Palestinians, experts say, is a viral social-media campaign centered on claims that the Jews are endangering the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem and that Israel is executing Palestinian children.

Marci, I saw on CNN front page that Facebook has imposed a safety check - I would imagine that means looking for chatter - cannot believe how quickly things are escalating - greatly complicated by the whole refugee thing.

I am tempted to write on my Facebook status something like:

"If you have colored your Facebook picture to identify with Paris, but have not done the same for Israel (because we haven't been nuked yet), why are you still my Facebook friend?"

    But I'm a coward.

John, what do you mean "Jerusalem and the rest of the West Bank?"

Most of Jerusalem has been physically part of Israel since 1949.
