Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.

Good health to all... from the Diner! And we may stop in at the drug store on the way home, that is, if we have enough spare change.

Wow, all kinds of memories bringing instant images. Our pharmacy went Rexall while I was in high school. There was no escalator in our big variety store, which was a W T Grant's. I remember a bare squeaky wood floor, tanks of very sad tropical fish. I scoured the paperback racks for anything new from Heinlein or the annual Nero Wolfe Mystery, which came out like clockwork. For sci-fi pulps and Pogo books we had to go to Rochester.

There was a brief time in Junior High when I figured that requesting thoughts for a penny and getting their two cents worth netted me a cent every time. I don't know that I ever actually handed someone a penny for the thought, but I may have handed a perplexed person two pennies when I was offering them the benefits of my deep experience.
I spent most of Junior High looking for new ways to perplex people.
