You might not be watching the new Twin Peaks, or care that it ever existed. But it changed TV, and one of the reasons that made it so unique was the music. Let’s go beyond the theme and explore the compositions of Angelo Badalamenti.

I had to listen to Mambo#5 just to clear all that depressing music from me.

I was a huge Twin Peaks fan - but unlike other series that I loved, I have never gone back to watch it again. Maybe we should just come to the realization that season 1 of Twin Peaks was David Lynch's moment of genius. That was all that he had. Just like "Sixth Sense" was "M. Night" Shyamalan's, never to be repeated or replicated. For me Twin Peaks has fallen into a memory hole, I really dont remember much of the plots or characters of the series. Maybe because I would later become so disillusioned and disappointed with where the series would go, and end - that I felt cheated by being so invested in the series to begin with.

"Twin Peaks" didnt have a lasting impact on TV, I think its an artifact of its time, unlike X-files that managed a limited translation out of the 90's. I think Twin Peaks will be stuck there, like "Fresh Prince" and "Friends". Its difficult to gauge but I think movies of the 90's like "Pulp Fiction" have had a larger impact in the modern revival of episodic TV than 90's TV has had. Almost every mystery series I can think of, has tried (or had several) episodes that used "Pulp Fiction"s out of order story line to build a dramatic episode, and without Vince there would be no Walter White. (not for artistic reasons - but executives would want an example of a villain accepted and loved by audiences before they would invest in a series like "Breaking Bad")

I have not watched the revival of Twin Peaks, I may sometime, but to me it seems that this is a series that is unworthy of a second look, as it ended in artistic failure the first time. There are numerous other series that I think would be much more interesting or worthy of second look or reboot.

Great episode, really like your Rambles.

James, you've written so much about about your ghosts from your mid-late 20s. I got 'em too, and the TP music really took me back to my time with those...challenges.

Anyway, I'm SURE you've come across POGO who's sweeping the center-right podcastophere (Steve Crowder, Tommy Sotomayor). But this track has been taking me back to that lost-to-time sock hop 10 years before I was born. BTTF came out the last summer before my Dad died...which set the aforementioned tragi-ball rolling for the next 10 years. But i digress from the POGO, when I heard your excerpts, this POGO came to mind. Yeah, not as powerful, but for me, yes:

I assume this means the original TP changed tv with its music. The description above is not clear.
