I'm having trouble finding appropriate adjectives. I have threads too. My dad's military funeral was in 1989 but the story of your cartridge brought it all back. Man, it must be dusty in here, it's making my eyes itch.

I forgot to finish the initial comments about remembering dreams. I was particularly proud because I had awakened at 5 AM with a phrase in my head, and was determined to remember it, and succeeded in writing it down at 7 AM. And it was: "Eagle branded Monkey fasteners."

Checking the crack o'dawn notes I have made in similar circumstances, all of them seemed brilliant at the time but nonsensical on second reading. The only one in years that was turned into anything was the beginning of a little poem that was polished into a prayer, which was kindly received when I posted it here.
"Eagle branded monkey fasteners" gave me an instant image of those big silver suspender strap snaps. Since they're behind your back, I like that they are big enough to grab blind. I couldn't find any suspenders quickly, but I have a couple of shoulder holsters hanging from a peg in the shop, and sure enough, the snaps have "Eagle" stamped on 'em. So I'm not sure what you can do with the phrase, but they do exist.
