Immediately upon the president's return to office, we discovered that stopping the flood of illegal immigrants across the border was as simple as turning off the spigot. While the crisis may be over, the mission has yet to be accomplished. Mark Krikorian of the Center for Immigration Studies and host of the Parsing Immigration Policy podcast returns to discuss what follows the end of the beginning efforts to correct the long-neglected immigration mess.
Plus, Rob, James and Steve look forward to the dismantling of the Department of Education; they do their best to ignore the psychopathic attention-seekers in the Middle East; and James finally turns the tables on Rob for a good old-fashioned troll.

Great guest! (Don't forget about the Armenian Catholic Church.) Great to have Rob Long back! James Lileks scored a segue to beat all segues until the next one.
A few decades ago, when the Japanese economy was booming, there were many, uh, undocumented migrants who were working here illegally. The Anglo-Japanese term obaa-sutei (overstay) was heard, the formal Sino-Japanese term being fuhou-zanryuu (不法残留) in case anyone is curious. Well, they're largely gone, and Japan now has more legal immigrants than ever, though they are not called immigrants. Japan's answer to Emma Lazarus is not "bring us your..." but rather "oh, OK, as long as you take on the garbage on the appointed day." (As my wife likes to say--in Japanese-"we are not the Salvation Army!" Brutal, but true....)

Rob Long's reaction when he realized James Lileks had snookered him in the long lead up to the Cozy Earth ad read made for very funny audio.

Another excellent podcast. Mark Krikorian always offers bulletproof analysis.

I like the one about it didn't take new legislation or funding, just a new president.

Thanks! The ad copy started with a suggestion to talk about spring. Once I got the idea of using Easter / Spring / Equinox / Religions to cloud Rob's mind, I knew I had something.
