Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.

Britain is on its seventh prime minister since bidding adieu to the EU a decade back. There's news of once-unimaginable crimes and ethnic strife shaking once sleepy shires. Even model citizens like scholar-slash-philanthropist and casual world-class athlete Jason Arday are having a hard go of it. For the lowdown on the United Kingdom's political crisis, we're joined by our new pal, historian and commentator Dominic Green.
Plus, the regular hosty blokes see plenty of problems on our side of the pond, especially after the DSA proves that they can win statewide primaries outside coastal enclaves. But there's always plenty to be cheery about in the land of opportunity, like DIY burritos, roaring roller coasters, and albums so familiar that you can spot the covers from miles away.
Opening sound this week: Hasan Piker says, “(Screw) Black people!” James Carville says, “I may be outta here!” on Fox News, and UK MP Rupert Lowe says, “Everybody has to go!”
Closing music: "God Save the Queen," by Ian Post (via MotionArray)

Lowe and Farage need to bury the hatchet----and NOT in each other's back. The UK must be bigger than their egos.
I too was in the UK on Oct 7 2023. My wife and I were visiting friends in Surrey and we heard of the attack as we had breakfast that morning. That afternoon we went into London and caught a play and in the later afternoon walked across the bridge towards Big Ben and then on to Trafalgar Square. The crowds were enormous and we were shocked at how 'odd' we felt given that the crowd was in a flat-out celebratory mood. It was shoulder-to-shoulder crowded ....and the sentiment displayed and heard was more than mildly anti Israeli.
English was not the most common language we heard ...and my wife and our hostess stood out by their lack of a head scarf and I and my friend were conspicuous with our lack of beard...need I say more?
The only real break in the solid makeup of that crowd was a relatively small pro Ukraine demonstration on the other side from where we walked.
Later that evening our cab driver told us it was the busiest day he had had in 18 years and he said he had never had so many "happy Asian fares "as he had that day---he did NOT think that they were all Buffalo Bills fans!

But, but...We were told it was the way Israel responded to the attacks that made people hate Jews! So disgusting. Sorry you had to witness that, but thanks for sharing it with us.
