Guests are fun 'n all but sometimes bros just gotta stick to the core group. Lileks, Robinson and Long discuss everything from a rumble in James' once quiet neighborhood to Tim Scott, Ron DeSantis, Jay Bhattacharya and a certain company which is following Anheuser-Busch into the grave by making its own conspicuous call to not just go about business as usual.

Song of the week:

  • Opening soundbite is Ron DeSantis speaking during his presidential campaign announcement on Twitter.
Hosts:
•James Lileks•Peter Robinson•Rob Long

Is the culture war “boring?” Not to those of us who have children or grandchildren.

Maybe it’s not as exciting as marginal tax rates to those that long for the good ol’ days of the pre-Trump GOP. But then, that’s another reason why the wonks lost control of the party in the first place. While the Marxists were co-opting virtually every part of our children’s lives they chose to ignore it because it was boring. And that’s how they got Trump and don’t realize how big a role they played in it.

Someone wise once said that when you make a mistake you should acknowledge it and apologize, not double down...

True, but Rob’s image of the presidents of failed banks selling apples on corners warmed the cockles of my cold black heart.

Writers on the conservative side who moan and groan about the culture war seem not to recognize that every piece they write about elections, crime and criminal justice, education, foreign policy and military entanglements, the Second Amendment, and—yes—taxes is participating in the culture war. The culture war they see as boring seems to be the one that does not affect them except to the extent that it makes them cringe.
