The pitiful state of university sociology departments is an unfortunate thing, but to see tantrums at elite law schools over "controversial" speakers portends danger — or so says Ilya Shapiro, author of Lawless: The Miseducation of America’s Elites. He and the fellas discuss the illiberal takeover of higher education, most troublingly in the institutions that train the gatekeepers of our legal system.

Plus, James, Charles, and Steve speculate on the midterms; see the potential for backfire from Virginia's redistricting referendum; smell controversy over the latest victory for the reefer movement; and begrudgingly admit the Americanness of gambling with top secrets.

I read Ilya Shapiro's book on law schools when it came out last year, and I thought it was very insightful. My only disappointment is that we haven't seen more warnings in the public discourse on the topic of insanity at the elite law schools. If nothing changes, these lunatics -- with their completely warped sense of the law, justice, and the Constitution -- are going to be serving in Congress, the Supreme Court, and even the presidency. If that happens, America is finished. Every time I see one of these law school shout-downs, I think, "Where will those young people be in 25 years?"

Shapiro is a great guest. Most articulate. On the USAID unemployed executives, maybe they could find employment in rolling joints now that the classification of pot has changed. Finally, the volume on the ads was the same as the program. Life is good.
