Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.

Steve Hayward is traveling abroad, so Ricochet co-founder Rob Long takes a break from his seminary studies to join James and Charlie in a discussion of worldly ways this week. The trio discusses property taxes, crazies with guns, and Bari Weiss's making a big deal over The Free Press. Plus, there's a comedian on trial in the UK, sustained outrage over Trump's law-and-order blitz, and disappointment among his enemies that he could be away from the cameras and alive at the same time.
- Sounds from this week's open: Tim Waltz on Donald Trump's "death" earlier this week, and Donald Trump's announcement that he was not dead earlier this week.
- Visit this week's sponsor, Prize Picks, and use code RICOCHET and get $50 in lineups when you play your first $5 lineup!

I don't think the Trump administration believes the "No guns for you, trans people!" bill would be constitutional. I think they just want to force Democrats to defend gun rights. The way they've forced them to defend big city crime and drug lords.

It wouldn't be Constitutional. Trans people have every right to defend themselves as much as everyone else. OTOH, you touch on an interesting aspect - the proposal forces the left to support gun rights, at least for trans . . .

If George Jones declares himself to be Georgina Jones but tells his friends that he will not oblige them to refer to him as "she" and accepts true diversity of thought, he should not be barred from owning a firearm. Ah, but then the question arises whether that condition holds if he flies into a rage whenever he is "misgendered." Not being nearly wise enough to deal with that, I happily and gratefully defer to Charles C.W. Cooke, as backed up by Rob Long...
Yesterday, not yet having benefited from that perspective, I commented on a Yahoo US article I saw about the attempt attributed to President Trump to prevent the "transgendered" from purchasing guns. I said that the *argument* in favor of such a step is that the mentally ill should not own firearms and that the "transgendered" fall into that category. Within seconds of my posting that comment, I received a notice that it had been rejected as "violating community standards." Clearly, AI is being used, so that when "mentally ill" and "transgender" appear in the same sentence...ZAP....I suppose I should be grateful that I am not a well-known Irish comedian...
Ah, so good to have Rob Long take a break from holiness to ricochet! (I hasten to say that, all joking aside, I much admire him for his current pursuit.)

I'm assuming Rob's day looks a lot like this:
