Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.

It's Question Time with Lileks and Cooke. They jump into the guest chairs and let Ricochet's very own members steer the ship this week. Tune in to hear their thoughts on lots of stuff: the Pax Americana, universal suffrage, wordsmithing in the age of AI, their favorite interview subjects, and more — all with plenty of pop culture packed in.
- Sound from this week's open: John Cleese in the "Take Your Pick" sketch on Monty Python's Flying Circus.

I appreciated your comments, @jameslileks, about Welles and his movies. Then, I remembered that it was the mid-1980s when Ian Shoales, AKA Merle Kessler, observed that at that time Welles was known mainly as the purveyor of dry table wines. I guess he called them "table wines" to distinguish them from Thunderbird and Night Train.
