The hard part about producing a podcast these days is finding topics to discuss. In the era of Trump, not much happens. Well, we struggle to carry on with our guests John Yoo on the trials and tribulations of Trump's executive order and Judge Gorsuch, and El Rush Bro himself, David Limbaugh on the President's first two weeks (wait --- it's only been two weeks?) Also, Elizabeth Warren gets sent to her room and a hearty Ricochet Podcast Mazel Tov to Ricochet members @1967mustangman and @VicrylContessa on the occasion of their engagement. We wish them a smart and civil marriage with little or no need for moderators.

Public service announcement: if you’re not a member of Ricochet and enjoy this podcast, be one of the 1,500 and join today.

I wonder what motivated HBO to plug John Oliver on the Ricochet podcast. I have occasionally watched his show, but I wasn't aware that Last Week Tonight was within a hundred thousand miles of deliberately reaching out to center-Right types. Bravo, I suppose?

This is sponsored by Last Week Tonight by John Oliver? UGH. And that rhymes with "smug," and that stands for John Oliver. I though that was a joke until there was no punchline and looked at the webpage. And then I was frozen for a few minutes debating whether or not I should turn the podcast off. After all, I felt such a sense of pride and relief when I canceled HBO in early December and realized I'd no longer be subsidizing that idiotic Limey blowhard...

Maybe Rob has a buddy at HBO that owed him a favor.

The John Oliver spot came through our deal with Slate's Panoply network. We could have refused it, but figured it was good for a laugh. Personally, I kind of like the show.

"En fuego" is not the way native Spanish speakers say "on fire," but perhaps the expression has become an accepted sort of Spanglish expression.

I haven't listened to the podcast yet; I expect to enjoy it.
