Dealing with Canada

It's Justin Trudeau's last day. A time to rejoice for the friends of liberty to our north. But the economic spat between the US and Canada has had the unwelcome consequence of restraining the latter's Conservative Party momentum. Thankfully, Ezra Levant returns to the Ricochet Podcast with a solution, which he laid out in a recently published book with a title that shows he knows how to speak our language: Deal of the Century: The America First Plan for Canada’s Oil Sands. He explains his pitch to the president and brings us up to speed on the political scene of our dearest neighbor.

Plus, Steve and James talk taxes, the Columbia University crackdown, and Lee Zeldin's big moves at the EPA.

The top 1% gets 20% of the income and pays 40% of the taxes. The volume of income that you need to keep things right is in the lower to middle classes. We are idiots.

You have to have an income tax in case you get into a war. There are three problems. The structure of the tax system is silly. The government doesn't need to produce anything but actual public goods. Reportedly, it's 80% non-public goods. The other thing is, we don't need inflation. We are too corrupt and stupid to do this. You can have deflation if you switch to full reserve banking, and you don't trade with the Chinese mafia.

Exactly. Babbling about the tray deficit is stupid. It totally matters what the trade deficit consists of. If it consists of oil or things you're getting for 75% off, you want as much trade deficit as you can get.

If you put small nuclear reactors on top of the oil sands, we would have massive energy for forever. The time is now.
