Within a week of Spain boasting its success at wiring up the grid with renewable energy sources, it was lights out for the whole Iberian Peninsula. Who could've predicted such an outcome? Today's guest is Robert Bryce, author of A Question of Power: Electricity and the Wealth of Nations and a Substack well worth a look. Robert provides a little refresher course on energy grids and explains how Green hubris threatens to overheat our whole system.
Plus, James, Steve and Charlie delve into a few developments on the administration's run-ins with the judiciary; they welcome progress on America's mineral deal with Ukraine, take a few swipes at Harvard's report on campus anti-semitism, and declare this week's winner on Twitter.
- Sound from this week's open: Spanish PM Pedro Sánchez addresses the blackout of the Iberian Peninsula.
Hosted by Charles C. W. Cooke,
James Lileks, and
Steve Hayward, with guest
Robert Bryce

I remain in awe of James's segues. When discussing segues, as many of us do, we're automatically talking about who is #2, so clear is James's hold on the top spot.
As for the anonymous source praising Harris, I assumed the NYT made it up. You're correct, there would be no reason not to attach your name to praise of the boss. As with many negative quotes from "sources close to the Trump White House," I usually begin with the assumption that they're lying. It is a strategy that has served me well these last few years.

Unauthorized communication with the press, even if it’s favorable, is a sign of unreliability to future campaigns. Starting with Obama on the left and Trump on the right, modern campaigns are chock full of people who have been made to sign Nondisclosure Agreements.
The Ship of State is the only ship that leaks from the top.

What's with Charles Cooke Classical Liberal Lileks advocating for tax exempt organizations?
Heck, for tax exempt anything?

I can’t speak for Charles but tax exempt organizations in America have always done the social work that has been increasingly co-opted by government.
What would you rather do? Give your taxes to government to run welfare programs or give a tax-deductible donation to a local church for their soup kitchen?
