    Noah Rothman astutely likened the Left's attack on the masculine pursuits of sex and booze to the Temperance Movement:

    The Temperance Movement was an outgrowth of suffragism - it was a women-led movement . . . that described alcohol as they describe it today, and what it does to men: it makes men into brutes, it makes men into bad providers, it makes men into philanderers.

    This triggered memories of my upbringing and travels with my folksinging parents. One of their staples - which if I recall correctly, my guitar-strumming parents led in a campfire singalong at Lake Casitas State Park in Ventura County, California - was the very humorous Away With Rum, The Song of the Salvation Army.

    I remember even as a very young boy recognizing that the song is very funny. Perhaps a tactic in the Fight Against the Progressives' War on Fun might be to lampoon the Progressives in song. Let's recruit Andrew Klavan for that mission.

    It seems like Noah talks to fast to listen to himself. He says some Conservatives are a little nervous with Trump taking a 2 by 4 to Harvard. Which Conservatives is he talking about? None that I know. Maybe Noah should get out and about a little more. I think almost everyone would be with Steve and applaud the 2 by 4, or even a 4 by 4, or maybe a couple of those new torpedo bats the MLB sluggers are using.

    He says Conservatives wouldn't want the same approach (I presume he means, withholding federal money from the institution, taxing the trust fund--yes, didn't happen--and blocking foreign students). I would think any conservative institutions worth the moniker would eschew federal money and want to focus on training Americans, not CCP officials. This is a case of, please, don't throw me in the briar patch.

    And then Noah goes on to make an almost airtight case for why nothing but a 2 by 4 will get the job done.

    I think he may be wrong when he says he got a good education at his liberal school.

    "Explicit" sanctions such as saying "Russia can't sell oil" aren't very useful because countries like China ignore them. But if US oil production etc drives the price way down, Putin doesn't get enough money to fund a war even if he does sell oil.
