Charles Murray's inquiries into social science have resulted in the publication of a number of the most important (and controversial) academic books of the past half-century. It's safe to say he enjoys complexity and taking a stand — and yet there's one big question that Mr. Murray spent half his life dismissing, and the second half marveling at without quite settling. Today, he sits down with Steve, Charlie and a visiting Peter Robinson to discuss his most personal work yet, the just-released Taking Religion Seriously.
Plus, our trio of merry hosts basks in the Democrats' disarray and they take a closer look at the Supreme Court's hearing in the Callais case that will settle the contradictions between the 14th Amendment and Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.

Excuse my sycophancy but these podcasts with the quality of folks such as you are a real blessing....I'll be 80 next year and thanks to podcasts such as this one and others with VDH and the like I find myself still able to delight.... and push back the despair, if only for a moment.

PS--Charles's comments about his wife's discussion of the love of her new daughter in 1985 and the overall discussion of time and God dovetailed neatly with my 41 year old daughter who FINALLY just had her 1st baby... and I asked her if she could encapsulate and relate her first toughts upon holding him and she instantly said about her baby---"I don't know you and I've known you forever''.

For what it's worth, here's my tiny contribution. A million years ago, I practiced Qigong. The only reason I was motivated to do this is I had some health issues and I had gotten acupuncture from a guy that practiced one of the Chinese internal martial arts. Believe me, if you practice a lot or get the right acupuncture guy, you can feel qi. I actually opened up my third eye a half a dozen times and got all five or six or whatever it is of the chakras going twice. I mean, it is damn startling. I've also felt it in my hands and around my body when doing standing meditation. So yeah, there's something to this world that isn't that testable by science.

I found this part to be exceptionally interesting because my dad had narcissistic personality disorder, and my mom didn't mind being married to him. There are just things that aren't that accessible to me.
