GOP Congressman Warns Socialism Is Taking Hold in America

Rep. Warren Davidson witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall and the failures of socialism firsthand. Now, decades later, he's serving in Congress alongside self-described socialists. Davidson joins Rob Bluey on The Midterm Report to warn about socialism's growing influence in America, the national debt, China's threat to American manufacturing, and alleged abuses of government surveillance powers. Victor Davis Hanson: Who’s Actually Guilty in the Cornell 7 Case?

The Cornell 7 case has sparked national outrage against the young “Jane Doe,” the seven accused fraternity brothers, and the larger group chat of men who did nothing to stop the alleged rape. But who is guilty when all parties are intoxicated and willing? Perhaps the root of the problem is not a legal one. While debates rage over consent, delayed reporting, and prosecutorial standards, Hanson zeroes in on a simpler, more troubling failure: not one person in that fraternity had the courage to say "this is wrong."

Steve Cortes: America Has a Muslim Immigration Problem

Steve Cortes warns that the United States could repeat Europe’s experience with mass Muslim immigration, pointing to Dearborn, Michigan, and arguing that assimilation and shared American values should play a larger role in immigration policy. He also discusses what he found while reporting in Michigan, Maine and Wisconsin and how immigration could shape major races in the midterms. Don Palmer also breaks down The Heritage Foundation’s latest Election Integrity Scorecard, including which states have strengthened their election systems and why some states could once again take days or weeks to finalize results. Victor Davis Hanson: The Left Renamed Everything. Now Trump Does It, and They’re Furious.

In a retort to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's refusal of a recent trade deal with the United States, President Trump renamed Lake Ontario to "Lake America." This political renaming of natural landmarks and wonders is not original to Trump. Barack Obama renamed Mount McKinley. Earl Warren's name was stripped from the Legal Institute. Even hundreds of years ago, Romans renamed landmarks. Trump is only reacting to a long tradition, one mostly embarked on by the Left in recent years.

Victor Davis Hanson: Could Tucker Carlson Split the Republican Vote in 2028?

Tucker Carlson and a group of MAGA conservatives are reportedly considering a possible third-party movement ahead of 2028. The history of third-party campaigns shows how they can split an ideological coalition and hand victory to the opposing party, from Theodore Roosevelt and the Bull Moose Party to Ross Perot and Ralph Nader. The proposed movement shares much of its agenda with the Trump administration but breaks sharply over foreign policy, the Iran war, Israel, and American involvement overseas. Personal disputes with Trump, growing divisions within MAGA, criticism of AIPAC and Israel, and controversial rhetoric surrounding Jewish influence have also become part of the emerging fracture. A third-party challenge could ultimately act as a spoiler in 2028, dividing the MAGA coalition and hurting the Republican candidate attempting to succeed Donald Trump.

Europe’s Iran Schizophrenia on Full Display Now

Europe is deathly afraid of a nuclear Iran, but it does not want to do anything about it. What explains this European schizophrenia? President Donald Trump has a simple, straightforward request of America’s so‑called European allies: While the U.S. uses all of its assets to disarm a common threat to the West, could they send a few ships to help patrol the Strait of Hormuz? By and large, the answer has been a resounding “no.” That is notable, Victor Davis Hanson points out on today’s edition of Victor Davis Hanson: In a Few Words, considering it was not too long ago that the United States set aside its own diplomatic interests to help Britain in its mission retake the Falkland Islands from Argentina. Victor Davis Hanson: Preventive or Preemptive? The Pros and Cons of a Potential US Strike on Iran

As President Donald Trump positions “the largest naval and air forces” off Iran’s coast that the U.S. has “seen since the invasion of Iraq in 2003,” he has some pros and cons to weigh about striking the Middle Eastern country. The U.S. isn’t in a war with Iran right now, so Trump’s positioning of forces could be for “either a preventive war, long-term threat, or a preemptive war,” explains Victor Davis Hanson on today’s episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In a Few Words.” “It’s very controversial, and we don’t know whether he’s going to pull the trigger or not ... He’ll have to make the decision pretty quickly because you can’t just take those many naval assets and stick them halfway across the world ... The window is probably about another six weeks.”

The Biden Bust Is Being Reversed as the Trump Economy Roars Back

President Trump is reversing the Biden administration’s years of damage to American “family finances” and “federal finances.” When Biden left office in Jan. 2025, “the private sector wasn’t adding any jobs at all, but losing them,” explains E.J. Antoni, Ph.D., The Heritage Foundation’s chief economist. One year later and Trump is righting the ship: Last month was the best January ever for employment among native-born Americans. The private sector added 172,000 jobs while government jobs declined by 42,000. All told, Donald Trump has reduced the federal bureaucracy by 323,000 in just one year. When Winter Hits, So Do Price Gouging Warnings: What Virginia Law Really Allows

Virginia’s recent winter storm brought with it the usual state of emergency announcements along with “the inevitable swooping in” of some politicians going “after anyone who’s price gouging.” Price gouging laws basically mean things like “batteries,” “tree removal services,” food, and water can’t be sold at “unconscionably higher” prices than they were “10 days prior to the storm,” explains Scott Goodman, a defense attorney at The Goodman Law Firm in Charlottesville, Virginia. “The business or the supplier that can open its books and show that this is what it costs them to get the water [for example] and that the percentage of the profit that they’re adding on top of that when they sell it to a customer is basically the same as it was prior to the state of emergency, that would again, speak to the fact that they’re not price gouging. They’re simply passing along a higher cost that they have to the customer.” Follow us on Instagram for EXCLUSIVE bonus content and the chance to be featured in our episodes: https://www.instagram.com/problematicwomen/ Connect with our hosts on socials! Pacific Palisades Can and Should Secede from Los Angeles

With Los Angeles consisting of nearly 4 million people, more than 400 residents are assigned to each LAPD officer, who works for a department that has an annual budget of about $2 billion. During the fires last year, an estimated more than 25% of emergency response equipment was broken. All this begs the question: What happens to a neighborhood when it has become irrelevant to the city it is in? Answer: They should start exploring de-annexing and fusion safety models for more cost-efficient emergency response services, argues Elaine Culotti in this special video commentary for The Daily Signal. 👉For more videos like this, subscribe to The Daily Signal’s YouTube channel and enable notifications to be alerted the second a new video drops: https://www.youtube.com/dailysignal?sub_confirmation=1

California’s SB-79 Is Quietly Redefining Neighborhoods Without Voter Consent

Local officials in California may be co-opting Wolfgang Puck’s and Frank Gehry’s forthcoming upscale retail center along the Pacific Palisades coastline to install unpopular, high-density housing in the coming future using a little-known, Gavin Newsom-backed bill: SB 79. “About a year ago,” California passed its Senate Bill No. 79 under the premise of encouraging housing near existing transit hubs, which, in principle, sounded like a good idea with best of intentions. SB-79 can’t be “implemented unless it's at a train station, bus station, [or] airport transit district,” so most people “didn’t say no to it” because transit districts should only have limited, localized impacts, California Correspondent Elaine Culotti explains. “This happens in California a lot where things are kind of slipped under the radar because they feel like they're not going to affect you. Well, guess what? They figured out a way to put transit districts in areas that don't have transit districts, after the fact.” For more video commentaries like this one, subscribe to The Daily Signal’s YouTube channel 🎥 https://www.youtube.com/dailysignal?sub_confirmation=1

‘Why Is It Taking So Long’? Senate Health Chair Urges Immediate FDA Action on Abortion Pill

The Food and Drug Administration should “immediately” restore in-person dispensing requirements for the abortion pill, Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., told The Daily Signal. The senator cited safety concerns in pressing the administration to act. “You don’t have to have a review to know that if a woman has an ectopic pregnancy, she’s gonna have a problem,” Cassidy said. “You don’t have to have a review to know that there’s documented cases of people coerced into taking this.” Under President Joe Biden in April 2021, the administration stopped requiring that abortion drugs be dispensed to women in person. The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, of which Cassidy is the chair, is holding a hearing Wednesday on protecting women from abortion drugs. Cassidy hopes the hearing will “rehumanize” the issue by demonstrating how the pill harms both women and unborn children.

Victor Davis Hanson: Beware of These Political Land Mines, President Trump

The Trump administration has delivered significant achievements on border security, energy production, crime reduction, and foreign policy in its first 10 months, but several overlooked issues could become serious vulnerabilities if not addressed before the midterms. Victor Davis Hanson breaks down the major political challenges that could quietly undermine the Trump administration’s momentum heading into 2026 and why the administration must shift its public messaging toward the economy on today’s episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In a Few Words.” “ Donald Trump has naturally talked about achieving peace with Ethiopia and Egypt, or Pakistan or India, or what we accomplish by taking out the nuclear facilities in Iran, etc. But the elections are not won on foreign policy, unfortunately, or maybe fortunate. They're won on economics.

Victor Davis Hanson: Will Trump’s Economy Survive the Left’s Sabotage Ahead of Midterms?

The Democrat Party is no longer the centrist institution of the past, and because of that, the midterms will be unlike any in recent memory. Donald Trump’s path to victory for the GOP in 2026 is clear: sustain a growing economy while facing opposition determined to stall it. Victor Davis Hanson explains how the Left’s strategy seeks to slow momentum before voters can see the full recovery and what steps the Trump administration needs to take to fight back on this episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.” “ Donald Trump is in a race to get the message out that the economy is much better than the Biden economy. It's going to get much better. And don't believe the media because the media, like the Democratic shutdown, like the Federal Reserve, this artificial efforts to keep interest rates high are politically motivated. But if everything works out the way that he had planned and he does the right thing, right around midterm time, the economy's gonna take off.” 👉 This episode is sponsored by the Pepperdine School of Public Policy.

Freedom of the (cider) press

Autumn in Virginia and lawns are covered with two things, multicolored leaves and multicolored political yard signs. Young people go door knocking for candidates and even younger people go apple-picking. The two worlds come together on the hills of southern Albemarle County behind a fence lined with American Flags at a winery with a familiar name, Trump. 10 years ago when his father announced that he was going to run for the Republican Party nomination he turned the reins of the Trump Empire over to his 31 year-old son and since then the family has been front page news and amongst the scrutiny they have quietly turned their winery into one that routinely wins awards across the winemaking industry and are considered one of the top destination inns in the country. He has chronicled the whole thing in his new book “Under Siege” and we caught up with the First Son at the Cidery and talked about all of it.

Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
