The NC bathroom wars were started by 2 SJW activists that got elected to the Charlotte City council after the mandatory accommodation bill got defeated last year. John is right that the NC legislature then walked straight into a sucker punch in overriding it, but I don't think the primary motivation was animus to LGBT rights. The primary concern I heard expressed is the voyeurs and pedophiles that will use this law as a pretext to avoid prosecution.
