Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.

You may have heard that Jonah's mother, Lucianne Goldberg, has passed. He's out today, but John and Rob pay their respects to the tough broad, and lament the near extinction of genuine eccentrics like her. After admiring the life-of-the-party in the corner, they move on to the 'town square' and ponder Elon Musk's revival of something that never really existed. They also think pop artists should stop trying to be so smart.

The old saw, that “nobody knows anything” in Hollywood, is hyperbole at best.
Obviously some filmmakers are more successful then others, and continue to be, over periods of decades.
What Rob Long appears to be really saying is, “nothing is absolutely certain” in Hollywood. Even the best hitters strike out sometimes.

Hyperbole might be valid, but even "successful" directors etc make clinkers from time to time. If they were really that good, shouldn't every movie they make be a hit?

Hint: Look up how many times Babe Ruth struck out during his career. Get the picture yet?
