Yep, it's the last GLoP of 2021, and there's lots to discuss, including Rob's not so great day, some advice for big entertainment companies, a very thoughtful joke, the case for more violence and nudity on TV, and much more. See you next year, GLoP-heads!

@RobLong, a friend of mine bought a car from a retired couple who never drove the car and had the same problem. Her son-in-law put a new battery in before the inspection. She drove is the 80 miles and still wouldn’t pass. They finally had to take it to “the guy” that knew how to pass it. By the time the it was due for another inspection, it was good to go. It shouldn’t be this hard. This was in NC, BTW.

I really don't understand why anyone would live there.

If the battery has just run down, it shouldn't take 80 miles to bring the battery up to where it can start again, and retain the computer information.

If the battery is bad, it needs to be replaced, and driving 80 miles won't fix that.

And if the car has to be jump-started again, the computer information is probably lost again, so it will have to be driven 80 miles again. And again, each time, until the battery is replaced. Then maybe once more after that.
