Does Jordan Have the Votes? Little Coverage of the Hostages, Biden’s Big Misfire

Subscribe to 3 Martini LunchSubscribe

Join Jim and Greg as they discuss today's planned vote for Speaker of the House as Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan seems very close to having the votes to win - but he might not quite be there yet. Will it be resolved today? They're also puzzled by the surprisingly little coverage of the hundreds of hostages taken by Hamas - some of them American. Normally, the media would have wall-to-wall coverage of something like that. Finally, they react to President Biden's comments over the weekend about no one needing "a weapon with 100 rounds in the chamber." In addition to not knowing how guns work, his timing on the gun control push is especially bad.

those of us old enough to remember the Iranian hostage crisis. This was on the news every day and it was one of the reasons not to vote for carter. Corporate media won't repeat that.

I barely remember it, being under ten. Isn't that how Nightline got started? A whole program created to follow the crisis.

yes - it started every show with "this is day XXX day of the hostage crises". It was the ultimate drip, drip, drip that made Carter look feckless.

I was in Kindergarten when it was going on, and even at that age I could sense the crisis hovering over everything like a fog. It was the first thing the news opened up with every night (or at least it seemed as I remember it), as if a pause had been placed on all other current events and we were just stuck in this doom loop for a year.

    Unless it's a Republican administration.
