Glad you clarified that baloney on the Blaze. I saw that article and ended up googling John’s name to be sure that they were talking about the same person. It seemed out of character for John to make that comment, but now I understand why. Frankly, I don’t think she is worth commenting on. Other than being her father’s daughter, her accomplishments are negligible.

I haven’t listened to the podcast yet, but the picture reminded me of Tom Scott’s video.

Goldberg and Podhoretz summering in the adjoining beach towns of Corolla and Camry?

Since when did they let Jews into Carolla and Camry? 🙂

I just finished listening, but I was folding clothes at the same time and might have missed it. Who were they talking about with the Blaze?

Hey, where’s the link to the Jeremy Corbyn high five FAIL? Evidently he’s skipped high five practice every day this week.

And another thing: Jonah’s mic glitched out at exactly the wrong moment, but JPod stepped up and made the point that needed to be made: THE INCREDIBLES! is a perfect movie. It is also the most important movie made in the 21st Century.

The funniest podcast on Ricochet tackles the great movie about East German Communism, The lives of others? A great surprise. Wouldn’t you know it, our own @flaggtaylor literally wrote the book on it: Totalitarianism on screen. Must-read for conservatives.

@flaggtaylor & I have just recorded a podcast on the all-American movie Gran Torino, which you should also listen to!

A fun podcast for the most part, except for 10 minutes in the middle where it was all “Trump is terrible and will be impeached.”

But that’s what fast-forwarding is for.

I’m all for FF, but I should say in defense of the podcasters, what they said, so far as I heard, was

    1. The Dems no longer care about anything–they’ll try to get the House to impeach &, if they get it, take that as a sign they should impeach!
    2. It doesn’t matter what you think about this, (I add, implicitly, it only matters if you can change their minds)
    3. Mr. Trump would behave himself very badly during impeachment
    4. The Congressional GOP has no way to control or help him
    5. It’s not ok for Mrs. Ivanka Trump to complain about the hate against Trump–she’s shocked, shocked!–when Trump had so much hatred & accused Sen. Cruz’s father of being involved in the JKF assassination (I add, I believe the now-president then implied, rather than openly alleged it, which does not change the fact that it’s awful!)

@jonahgoldberg – You are so right about those bizarre schools of fish. Years ago I ended up in the middle of one that had a muddy red patch floating with it, and I have never fled the water so quickly. Was in SC. Not sure why I returned to the water, but later a shark swam between my friend and me in waist high water. Now we go to the Gulf Coast, where the water is clear, and I might get in w/ my kids – if they beg me.

With all due respect to Rob Long, Miller’s Crossing is the greatest Cohen Bros. movie. Great music, great wardrobe, great cinematography, and snappy dialogue delivered by terrific actors. I think it would have enjoyed more success and popularity if it hadn’t been released at the same time as Goodfellas.

John had made a comment about Ivanka Trump, essentially calling her a dirty liar. The Blaze referred to John as “a Washington Post columnist,” rather than his more important role as chief editor of Commentary Magazine. John was referring to Ivanka’s spurious statement to the effect that she was shocked by the vehemence of the resistance to the Trump administration. The comment seems a bit out of character for John, but apparently he was scandalized by her total lack of candidness.

Er, no. The Blaze described John Podhoretz as a liberal writer for the NY Post. Here’s their correction:

Update: The original headline called John Podhoretz a liberal. He is not. The headline has been edited to fix that error.

Can still see their error on the url:

    http://www.theblaze.com/news/2017/06/12/liberal-ny-post-writer-calls-ivanka-trump-a-filthy-liar-mocks-her-appearance-it-backfired-hard/

Edit: And the larger point … John excoriated Ivanka Trump for her pearl-clutching at the viciousness of politics. He thought her disingenuous, considering it was their campaign that was willing to stoop to the level of accusing a rival candidate’s father of the JFK assassination.

The guys seemed surprised that the writer on The Blaze failed to recognize John as a fellow writer within the conservative universe. I like the GLOP fellows, but I gotta wonder how they can be in the business of public opinion and not be in an existential crisis everyday …

I keep seeing people say that, but I thought the first season had some of the funniest moments, including some parody of early Obama era events. I haven’t streamed it since, but watched it all first-run. I thought the middle seasons were weaker, but kept watching. What do people find so weak about season one?

The tone-poem comment immediately made me think of the Blacklist episode in which Reddington goes to some beach and has unmemorable conversations with yet another person we weren’t familiar with, and i think at the end he kills yet another of same, for reasons unclear.

I fail to see any contradiction of what I stated in my post. You, obviously went into greater detail, but the “er, no” was a bit over the top.

Similarly, as the place name discussion came up, I was listening from “where the Queen goes alone,” as the Brits call it. Needless to say, my roommates are all very glad to be sharing an apartment with a crazy person who laughs hysterically in the John for no particular reason.

Also, can someone please meme “And the Knight Who Says Ni received… two.”?
