The first six episodes are an arc about the Cold War.

And they are excellent.  Wondery does good work.

Sorry @fredcole I can’t agree.  I just finished the first episode which highlighted the “Red Scare”.  What I heard was the usual left wing revisionism and apology for Communism.  And it is historically incorrect to portray America and its fear of Communism as the primary reason for the Cold War, not Stalin or the Soviet Union.  Stalin’s takeover of Eastern Europe and their loss of freedom was justified because of the tremendous loss of population that the Soviet Union incurred during the Second World War.  A key giveaway was their use of the phrase “arc of history” and that American anti-Communism was on the wrong side of it.  This podcast was simply left wing apologia.  I won’t be listening to the remaining podcasts.

I was pretty annoyed by a Ricochet Podcast that starts out with James Lileks explaining that “this is not a Ricochet Podcast” because it’s actually an infomercial for another podcast. I don’t know if this was paid placement, but if you wanted to let us know you could simply add one episode to the member feed and mention it, or even just talk about it as you do about various books and such that you may find of interest.

As for the content of the Wondery podcast itself, I wasn’t impressed, and I found all of the sound effects distracting rather than enhancing.
