Churchillian

What’s the Ricochet Podcast to do when the world insists on calamity? We invite one of the leading historians in the English speaking world and a former National Security Advisor, that’s what. Joining the fellas in our opening chat is Andrew Roberts. He reports from Eastern Europe to tell us about his recent trip to Ukraine, and, as the Churchill expert, to give his take on the comparisons between the hero of World War II and President Zelensky.

Next, lieutenant general H.R. McMaster returns to assess the war in Ukraine. The hosts have him try on a couple strategic hats to help us size up the enemies of the free world. (Be sure to check out his new web series Battlegrounds, available on Youtube!)

The hosts chat about San Francisco’s boycotting most of the U.S. over laws they don’t like, and Rob tells us about his wonderful get together in New Haven with Ricochet members ctlaw, Jack Mantle and KirkianWanderer.

Want in on the good times? Wanna know the recipe for Bryan Stephen’s award-winning Spicy Whiskey Sour? Join Ricochet, why don’t ya?!

Xi  loses “the Mandate of Heaven” if Putin plotzes.

Kissinger may be right but both guests make good cases.   We have to keep the basics in mind and it all depends on how the whole mess affects those basics and how events change.   Biden is out of most things, but not China US relations.   Its’ not clear who’s running matters for us, but China has more influence than anyone wants especially on Biden. China wants us to spend and fail;  us not Germany or the EU.  So far it seems to be Russian failure and  Europe stepping forward more than most thought.   But Russia will fight until the Ukraine is totally destroyed and the west dare not take the war to Russian territory so an independent non NATO Ukraine and Russian access of the port is probably as good as the west will get.  We have to play it cool until we get rid of this US leadership.

The important thing, even if a Putin victory should be inevitable, is that it be pyrrhic.

We want the lesson learned by Russia to be, “Let’s not do that again.”

And the lesson learned by China to be, “Let’s not do that.”

This is very good on supply chains and globalization. If you want a transcript go over to the real vision site and pay a dollar.

I also recommend that you listen to Simon’s interview on the  hidden forces podcast.

Good discussion, but it seemed a little anachronistic.  There was only a passing inference to4th and 5th generational warfare.  The end of the petro-dollar and Bretton Woods II is a big deal.   There are $14 Trillion of reserve dollars out there and that could be used against us.

    Another great show gents!

I read this thread (oh boy it is a looong one) when I saw someone else post it at the end of Feb/early March and a lot of it echoes what McMaster spoke to regarding military readiness, equipment upkeep, logistics, troop morale, etc. Figured I’d post it for yall as well.

Here is the unroll of it – but since he uses pictures in every post it is not as readable as it could be if someone took the time to snip out all the pics. Regardless, the unroll:

Ricochet is stepping up the game! Is there a dedicated app to post/read the site yet?

It’s being forced. I doubt those guys have a big opinion about it.

9 comments for a discussion with two of the most distinguished guests to appear lately?  What is going on with the flagship podcast?  I remember the days when there were at least three pages of comments.

This is just my amateur observation. They covered everything really well. Foreign policy is really hard for most people. Really complicated thorny subject, so I think a lot of people back off.

I agree with Andrew.  Do not partition Ukraine.  Partition is diplomatic wishy-washyness and downright stupidity rather than moral clarity.  This requires moral clarity.  Putin gets nothing but a trial for war crimes.

I can’t believe the Ricochet “brainiacs” actually have no moral clarity on this.  Amazing.
