The only truly functioning high-speed rail in America today is the Trump Train, and not even the prospect of a 200% tariff on the core commodity of this podcast—single malt scotch whiskies—can dampen the 180-proof spirits of Lucretia, host of this week's episode.

But we still manage to get in some disagreements about how to understand what is going on, especially with the Ukraine War endgame. In fact, we got John Yoo to out himself as the OGNC ("original gangsta neo-con") on the question of whether American foreign policy has been overly dominated by Wilsonian internationalism for the last century, or whether it has been more realist. John was responding to my two Substack articles (here and here) on different aspects how idealism and realism play out in the Ukraine matter, disliking both. Lucretia responded with a great harumph.

There was much less harumphing and more huzzahing for the humiliation and confusion of the Democrats this week, culminating in the Dem surrender over the budget continuing resolution. About the confusion of federal judges (this is putting the matter charitably) trying to block some of Trump's moves, John sees hope for optimism that these roadblocks will be overcome, while debunking the claim that Trump is causing a "constitutional crisis." (Link coming when his latest article goes live.) Steve merely longs for the good old days of Watergate.

Hosted by John Yoo, 'Lucretia', and Steve Hayward

I found it VERY revealing that John -- who consumes legacy media -- thought Bannon's show is must-see viewing for the right, but Steve and Lucretia didn't think so at all. Lucretia (and I) had never seen it before. I never see it quoted by people I follow. We can only infer that the legacy media is presenting it as influential because he is extreme, and they want everyone to think all GOP voters are extreme right. I was puzzled the other day when talking with left-leaning friends at how much they mentioned Bannon. Now it makes sense.

The global anarchy argument for chaos and instability is flawed and fails to acknowledge the amount of capital, totalitarian force and violence needed to enforce the opposite. Wilsonian pontificating, even if fundamentally believed by it's pushers also leads to chaos. The most condensed argument I could think of for this is something like "real communism hasn't been tried yet." Or real "fill in the blank"....

Quick! Lets manipulate people with US AID funded lgbtq comic books and force low gdp countries to embrace unreliable "green" energy projects they can't afford; all from debasing the currency and over taxing people who don't want this stuff in their own countries.

Oh the "omnipotent moral busybodies" who torment others for their supposed good, how I wish to be ruled by thee.

This is what John wants. Heck yeah.

While I know of Bannon's War Room, I've never listened or watched. I very much doubt it's "must see" for most conservatives. I think Bongino and even Rogan was much more "must watch." Of course, it used to be Rush Limbaugh, and no one has really been able to reproduce his wide-spread influence.

I have friends who see nothing but main stream media and I'm amazed at how distorted their view is of what is going on. The person I'm particularly thinking of won't use a computers as he only sees what ABC, NBC, CBS presents to him, so he sees no counter programming.

Bannon is definitely funned by some interest group or individual and not supported by a populous conservative movement (ironically). In that sense, regardless of his ideas or intent, he is essentially some kind of puppet to be brought out when needed.

As much as I love Lucretia, I take great offense to her denigration of my drink of choice: beer. Those of us born and raised in blue collar working class families take great pride in following in the footsteps of our fathers, great Americans of the WWII generation. One should be aware that micro-brewed beer/ale is American made, unlike that Euro swill that some drink. But let bygones be bygones...except for Bud Light.
