With John Yoo away this week on a junket to South America, Steve and Lucretia reverted to old times and scheduled a live taping where we fielded questions and comments in a webinar format.
We talked about the reasons to be bullish about the new Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, along with discussion of the strategic challenges facing Israel and the United States, and more—always more—on the rot in our universities.
In between these three main topics we took up listener questions about social contract theory, whether the U.S. could realistically find itself in a real civil war some time soon, and whether the general challenges of political leadership in a time of deep polarization can be overcome.
A real crowd-pleaser, we hope.

I don’t know why people would bash poor John — I love him. He’s funny and insightful (about the many topics on which he is well-versed) and makes a nice counter to Lucretia’s arguments. I sometimes disagree with John, but podcasts on which everyone is in full agreement on every issue are not nearly as interesting, entertaining, and educational as this one. John, Lucretia, and Steve make a terrific team.
I think Steve may be onto something about the pre-emptive strike on Hezbollah. As we are seeing, Israel is getting blamed for everything anyway, might as well do what they need to do to survive.
Very nice of you to say. It’s just that John and I have mounting bills for physical therapy from the beatings we both take from Lucretia every week.
Looking just at the title, Crowd pleasing sounds good, but then I realize there’s just one of me. Anyone got a company I can merge into?
As I recall, Ward Churchill had claimed to have American Indian ancestry, but didn’t, which was another reason for him to be fired.
