I can’t believe I had to crash my own podcast today to blunt the slow-rolling coup that Lucretia and John Yoo started last week in my absence, but by the miracle of the internet I did just that, dropping in for a few minutes between drams of whisky and dishes of haggis. We kick around the Joe Manchin news, whether the White House will invent a new term for economic distress—”recessionyx” (seriously, who could doubt it)—and whether the J-6 committee is leading inexorably toward a Justice Department indictment of Donald Trump—and thus a further step toward making America a banana republic.

Steve’s been gone for one week. The Three Whiskey Happy Hour has been renamed the Three McRib Happy Hour. Lucretia and John have taken over the Ricochet podcast. All is well in Ricochet land.

Terrific podcast! Any possibility of a threesome?

It was 48 years ago next month that I and another LSU summer abroad in England participant—around the same age as Steve’s daughter—visited the Isle of Skye, hiking up a rather steep mound and then lunching on fresh bread and cheese and drinking red wine among the ruins of what looked to have been a Medieval castle. It felt like—and we pretty much were—on top of the world. That stay still ranks as my favorite memory among many many unforgettable memories of my once and only time in the UK.

Trump did not want to “overturn” the election, and neither did any of his supporters. To want to “overturn” the election would be to concede that Biden won, which he did not. Trump supporters wanted to stop the stealing of the election.

The last part of the episode is what I was hoping would happen on the flagship podcast with John and Lucretia sitting in for Rob and Peter. The flagship is glad that Trump is gone so you don’t hear a defense of him on there. If one only listens to the main podcast, you might not know about the political prisoners in DC.

Lucretia, I heard on Sharyl Attkisson’s podcast that a Navy review board (may not be the right term) found that the COVID mandate is not a lawful order. None of the available vaccines have a non-emergency approval and the DoD may not mandate taking such a vaccine.

That is what drove me to cancel my own damned subscription to Ricochet.  It took a podcast shoutout from Lucretia to bring me back, but I still cannot stomach listening to the flagship Ricochet Podcast, which I used to enjoy.

Correction: It’s going to be renamed the “Three McRibb Happy Meal” podcast!

Oh, give them another try–when one of us is subbing (which happens a lot these days–they had me guest-host three weeks in a row back in May.)

<Stage Whisper>I have in fact listened to every flagship podcast when you or Yoo was subbing or appearing as a guest, but I don’t want Rob to steal the credit for the dramatic increase in ratings. </Whisper>
